🤘🏼 Turns out, if you ask extraordinary humans to do strange and wonderful things, sometimes they say yes! 🎶✨

Not gonna lie… this was a bit of a pinch me moment.

Apparently, we have exquisite taste in guest judges. 🎶✨

Somehow, we assembled the musical equivalent of a fantasy footy team for our 2026 Bondi Battle:

🎷 Kirk Pengilly
💽 Chris Erskine
🎸 Stephen Hunt

🎤 With Osher Günsberg pulling double duty as MC and resident vibe curator.

🏆 And Emily Albert presenting our Turn It Up Award for Most Tickets Sold.

Honestly… what an outrageously glorious bunch of humans.

Not only did they generously donate their time, they threw themselves headfirst into the joyful chaos that is Parents Battle of the Bands - with warmth, curiosity and a wholehearted willingness to be swept away in the madness alongside the rest of us.

Absolute legends, every one of them - Thank You!✨

Still not entirely sure how we pulled this off… but we’re definitely adding “assembling dream judging panels” to our LinkedIn skills. 💜

🥈2026 Bondi Battle Mic Drop runners-up… but undisputed Turn It Up Trophy winners for most tickets sold! 📀💿

And boy, did Clovelly Public TURN IT UP!!!

What a set. What a ride. What a celebration.
What a night for the Cloey’s! ✨

🎶We have to celebrate them baby….We have to Praise them like we shouuuuuuuldddd!🎶

And celebrate them we shall.

Because judging by the smiles, the voices, and the atmosphere in the room, this bunch weren’t just performing - they were making sure everybody had the time of their lives.

But just when we thought it was going to end nicely, they exited with a huge dose of defiant energy that sent The Beachy into absolute delirium. Safe to say, the room chose chaos, and everybody was totally on board! 🔥🤘🏼 IYKYK.

🎤🏆 2026 Bondi Battle Champions!

Taking home the coveted Mic Drop Trophy for the second year running, the Bondi Public community got right behind their outrageously rockstar-powered parents band, Bondinamite, who absolutely owned the stage.

From a brilliantly stitched-together set that seamlessly mashed Edge of Seventeen into Evie Part 1, a moment of reverence with Like a Prayer, to a crowd joyfully chorusing in Fat Bottomed Girls, and a show-stopping finale of Let Me Entertain You… this was peak Bondi Battle energy.

Immaculate vocals. Next-level showmanship. An adoring crowd. And by the end, the Beachy completely lost its mind.

Pretty sure we caught the judges exchanging a collective “WTAF?” 😳😂

An unforgettable performance that blew everyone away.

One minute we are swaying along to Edge of Seventeen…..

….the next, hundreds of us are pulsating as one and screaming our lungs out alongside Osher Günsberg, Tim Minchin & Kirk Pengilly….

“F% # YOU, I WON’T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!”* 🤘🔥

So surreal.

The 2026 Bondi Battle went off tilt, as The Beachy transformed into a full-blown, fist pumping, drink spilling, voice losing…complete and utter surrender to collective mayhem.

We won’t forget this anytime soon!

🎸 Six bands.
🎤 One community.
❤️ A whole lot of beautiful noise.

🎹 Tim Minchin – songwriter, singer, pianist, actor, writer, comedian, producer and poet. New album Time Machine out now.

🎷 Kirk Pengilly – INXS legend and recipient of the 2026 Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.

🎵 Chris Erskine – SVP Artist Strategy, Warner Music Group APAC.

🎸 Stephen Hunt – PBOB Alumni and member of Lost Property (Bronte Public 2025)

These music industry heavyweights have the unenviable task of awarding the Mic Drop Award for the 2026 Bondi Battle. 🏆

What a milestone.

A huge testament to the incredible school communities behind this event and to our amazing PBOB Producer, , who has not only coordinated the Battle but is also performing on the night. Can we get a round of applause for Min? 👏🏼

Thank you to all our participating schools and band reps for rallying your communities and helping make this happen. Seeing the venue sell out is an awesome reflection of the support these bands have built within their school communities.

Spare a thought for this fine bunch, who had the unenviable task of separating one of the most hotly contested heats we’ve ever seen. 😅🔥

With points awarded across Musicality, Performance, Presentation and Crowd Engagement, there were some VERY tough calls being made last Thursday night.

Now THAT was a Battle! One of the most hotly contested heats we’ve ever seen. The scores were incredibly close. The support from each community…even closer.

Somewhere in amongst all the riffs, the colour, the cheering and the final group shot…that something special happened!

One big celebration of live music, community and connection. How joyful to come together wholeheartedly for a purpose.

Rocking matching purple coats and enough cool to fill the room, THE APPARENTS from Caulfield Junior College proved that sometimes five players are all you need to make a mighty big noise 💜⚡

With one of the most ambitious set lists of the night, these legends took on a serious degree of difficulty and absolutely brought it. Tight rhythms. Rock-solid musicianship. Zero passengers.

And then there were the dance moves… 🕺✨

Because if you’re going to deliver killer tunes, you may as well throw in some impeccable footwork while you’re at it.

Massive congratulations to this seriously talented five-piece on a brilliant runner-up finish. Southside 2 was all the better for having you in it 💜🎸🔥

THE RIPOFFS from Ripponlea Primary have done it again! 🔥

Back-to-back Southside heat champions and, just for good measure, winners of the Most Tickets Sold prize from Rock Academy 🤘

These legends left absolutely nothing in the rehearsal room, bringing a polished, high-octane set of Aussie bangers.

Big vocals. Tight grooves. Huge energy. And a solid commitment to the theme.🇦🇺🎸

From the first note to the final encore-worthy moment, The Ripoffs went all in - and their army of supporters went right there with them.

Massive congratulations to a band that knows how to put on a show and a school community that knows how to turn up ❤️
