HELP STOP THE BRIGHTON, HAMPTON & SANDRINGHAM ACTIVITY CENTRES 🚨

The Victorian Upper House will vote on 3 June to overturn 25 Government Activity Centre changes and the Mid-Rise Code that bring 4-6 storey apartment developments into residential streets from Brighton North to Sandringham and towers up to 16 storeys + in our shopping villages.

📣 We need YOU to email the Upper House MPs crossbenchers and local MPs BEFORE 1 JUNE.

📧 Writing to MPs only takes a few minutes.
Details, MP email addresses and how to help here: https://liveablevictoria.org.au/overturn.html

Why?

❌ You've had no say. The Government exempted itself from the normal planning consultation expected for changes of this scale.

❌ Massive planning overreach by State Government - despite Council preparing an alternative housing plan that is already delivering more homes close to transport and services while protecting:
• tree canopy
• neighbourhood character
• heritage
• liveability
• local amenity

❌ The new Mid-Rise Code means:
• your solar panels overshadowed
• fewer trees and gardens
• increased urban heat
• reduced privacy - overlooking into bedrooms & private space
• lower environmental standards

More Homes Done Better - without sacrificing what makes our suburbs liveable.

Imagine this height and taller amongst family homes in quiet residential streets and double and triple this height in our shopping strips?

The Upper House can still stop this!!

We are not protesting new home developments as the headline states. We are protesting the false promises of affordable homes for our younger generations the Government knows these plans will not deliver. There is a better way.

As state governments try to fast-track the development of new homes, some are facing a strong backlash from local communities.
