Friends of Edgars Creek Thomastown, Community Litter Clean-Up
When: Sunday 1 March, 10am - 11:30am

Please join Friends of Edgars Creek Thomastown (FoECTT), and MCMC for a community litter clean up and citizen science litter audit.

Be part of the solution as we remove litter from the Edgars Creek and surrounds and discuss future actions that should be taken to protect the Edgars Creek.

Meeting point: Thomas St car park, next to the soccer oval (see details when registering).

All litter clean-up gear will be provided, though you are welcome to BYO gloves. Families are welcome (children to be supervised by an adult). BYO drink bottle, sun hat and wear closed shoes with good grip. Please do not attend this event if you are feeling unwell.

🚨 Coburg Community Action Update! 🚨

What a fantastic turnout at the park today! It was incredible to see so many of you engaged and asking important questions about the Activity Centres plans. 🗣️

✅ Key highlights from the day:
* A huge thanks to Anthony Cianflone MP, David Southwick MP, Greens candidate Angelica Panopoulos and Merri-bek Mayor Nat Abboud for Merri-Bek for sharing their perspectives on the issue.
* Cr Liz Irvin - Randazzo Ward, Cr Ella Svensson, and Cr Helen Politis for Harmony Park were also in attendance, showing strong support for the community.
* Jane Oldham (Boroondara Community Group), Peter Riley (Livable Moonee Valley), and Tanya Tescher (Whitehorse Ratepayers & Residents) spoke passionately about the need for action and an enquiry into the Planning and Environment (Better Decisions Made Faster) Bill 2025 before it’s too late.

🙏 A big shout-out to all our committee members and residents who made this event a success! 💪

This is not just us. Across Coburg and Merri Bek, residents are speaking up about planning decisions that will shape our suburbs for decades. The Greek Orthodox community, local families, business owners and long-term residents are all raising similar concerns about transparency, heritage, and the pace of change.

Our neighbourhood deserves thoughtful planning, proper consultation, and decisions that reflect the needs of the whole community. This article shows that many voices across Merri Bek are calling for the same thing.

Merri-bek City Council has signalled that changes to its draft Central Coburg Structure Plan are likely, following strong community backlash.

🚨 Overdevelopment alert🚨

The state government is pushing through 16-storey towers in Brunswick & Coburg — with no plans for parking! 🚗💥

The Upfield Line is already infrequent and underdeveloped. What does this meant? More cars, more gridlock, and no extra parking!

What’s at risk?
🚫 Streets clogged with parked cars
🚗 More traffic & pollution
🌳 Inadequate infrastructure to cope

We can't let this happen! We need smarter growth, not overgrowth.
