STILL WAITING: REMY AND LOTTIE HAVE BEEN IN CARE FAR TOO LONG

Remy and Lottie were listed on 22 April 2024 - how much has happened in your life since then, while these two are still waiting for their forever life to begin.

Remy and Lottie are a brother and sister pair who came into rescue as strays, and have spent every day since proving they were always meant for indoor life with soft blankets and a food bowl that fills up twice a day.

Lottie is the photogenic one, a medium-haired beauty with unusual markings and a little white spot at the end of her tail, like an exclamation mark. She comes with a mix of sass, confidence and gentleness, and her foster home has found her an easy cat to love. Remy is the fluffy gentleman of the pair. He's is a walking invitation for pats, his silky long fur that he keeps impeccably groomed, beautiful eyes, and a sweet and gentle personality to match.

What makes these two special is how differently they've each found their feet. Lottie is curious and always wants to know what's going on. Remy is happy doing his own thing, then occasionally wanders out to summon his humans with a soft meow -more of a squeak - for head scritches and pats.

Remy and Lottie are in foster care together and would love to stay that way but they're not a bonded pair, so they can also thrive separately as long as each has another friendly feline companion. These two are looking for a calm, settled home with adults, or teenagers who appreciate a calm house.

CATS: YES, both need a friendly feline companion, and they'd love to stay together

DOGS: Not tested, but both could adapt to a cat-friendly dog with proper introductions

CHILDREN: Best suited to adults, or respectful teenagers

Located in Carrum Downs, VIC (Victorian adopters only) - both desexed, vaccinated and wormed, no known pre-existing conditions.

Sometimes things happen when they are meant to happen.. ❤

Sometimes it may take years for that perfect person to come along, but when they do, you know instantly why the wait was so long..

Bella & Kevin (Mum & son) have been in the rescue for over 4 years, after we rescued them and many others from a property that was overrun with cats.. They were confined to a solitary room for a few years before we rescued them

Bella & Kevin have been with 3 different carers over the 4+ years, but their recent carer, Delwyn, has decided that Bella & Kevin's home is with her.. And honestly, I shed a few tears knowing that they had finally found their person

Pics of Bella & Kevin in their forever home, with their mum, Delwyn (Apparently, Kevin has a permanent grumpy look..😂)

Today is my 60th Birthday...

For the past 10 years, I have dedicated my life to saving little lives, mainly street cats, who live a horrific existence…

Over the years, we have told you so many stories about the plight of street cats & kittens.

We have asked for donations to help save severely unwell & injured street cats & kittens, who without our help would otherwise die a death that can only be described as barbaric.

We are not classed as a third world country, BUT when it comes to the thousands of cats & kittens living on our streets, I actually think we are.

Cats & kittens living injured, unwell & starving to death.

Cats & kittens suffering with injuries so horrific that they would make you drop to your knees.

Saving street cats & kittens has always been where my heart lies.

But this year has pushed me over the edge for many reasons, and I have had to stop our intake numbers.

I have struggled so much with having to say NO.

No, because we don't have available foster carers.

No, because we don't have enough volunteers to help manage the rescue.

No, because we don't have the available funds to cover vet bills, especially the emergency costs associated with street cats.

And no, because of the stress that comes with running a rescue.

I know I speak on behalf of most rescues when I say that rescue will push you to places you have never been before. Sometimes you are pushed so far that you no longer have any normality in your life.

And eventually, you break.

I broke this year. I had a nervous breakdown.

I could not have run Heart & Soul Rescue for the past 10 years without our incredible foster carers & volunteers.

I am so incredibly grateful for every single person who has helped me save these little lives.

Although we may never be able to take in the numbers we previously have, while we still have the ‘bones’ to save lives, we will do what we can, when we can.

I am not a materialistic person.

I don't want presents for my Birthday. I never have.

But this year, I am asking you for something.

Please donate, even just $5, towards Heart & Soul Rescue.

Because that $5 could help another little life have a chance to live.

Just like my beautiful disabled girl, Annie, did for 7½ years, who passed last year, and I still cry for her

Annie was given a chance.

That is what rescue is about.

Giving them a chance.

Even when they are broken.

Even when they are sick.

Even when they are injured.

So today, on my 60th Birthday, I don't want a present.

I want to save another little life. Even $5 can help save a little life

Thank you all for your support over the past 10 years.

Thank you to our foster carers. Thank you to our volunteers. I truly could not have done this without you.

It takes a village to save little lives. ❤️

Mariah is ready to graduate out of foster care - she is showing tendencies to provide emotional support ❤️.

This is Mariah who adores her humans and will snuggle like it's her full-time job, her purr motor going the whole time. Bedtime cuddles are a favourite, and she'll often choose to sleep curled up near your chest or neck.

What makes Mariah special is how attuned she is to the people around her. Her carer has noticed she becomes particularly focused on her foster mum's sister when she's experiencing a migraine, sniffing around the affected side of her face, then settling in close, often curled around her neck and throat, purring away. It's as though she knows when her human needs extra comfort, and she takes the job of an emotional support cat seriously.

When Mariah is off duty, she loves playing and entertains herself, and the rest of her tribe, with crinkle balls, springs, tunnels, cardboard boxes and the occasional rogue tissue. She has impeccable litter habits and a healthy appetite: no fuss at mealtimes.

In her foster home she shares her days with two active boys (aged 4 and 8) and generally copes very well with family life. She welcomes gentle pats and playtime, provided things stay calm and respectful. She'd suit a home with children who can read her body language and give her space when she asks for it.

Mariah is looking for a patient, understanding family who appreciate that big changes can feel overwhelming, and who'll give her the time she needs to settle in. Once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through beautifully. More photos and video updates on her foster Instagram: .fosters

🐈CATS: Mariah must go to a home with a resident cat, or be adopted with another of our cats or kittens. Tell us what you have in mind and we can recommend a match.
🐶DOGS: Mariah has spent time around a calm dog and shown interest; with the right introductions, she'd likely be very happy with a cat-friendly dog.
👶CHILDREN: Would work well with respectful children of all ages.

We have some very sad news to share about a very special boy… 💔

Some of you may remember Brad.

Brad was surrendered to a pound at 17½ years of age after his owner passed away.

When Brad came into our care, he was exceptionally unwell. He was severely underweight, had a very high white blood cell count, absolutely rotten teeth, and had been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease.

With the support of our followers, we were able to give Brad the medical treatment he desperately needed. And along with a renal diet, his kidney disease improved from stage 4 to stage 2.

Brad was to be a long term foster; however, his carer could no longer care for Brad. So we listed Brad for adoption

We knew it was going to be a difficult task.

Brad was an elderly boy with kidney disease, and finding someone willing to open their heart and home to a cat of his age wasn't going to be easy.

But then, just days after we listed him, we received a message from a wonderful lady named Hannah, asking about adopting Brad.

And what made this adoption even more perfect?

Hannah is a vet. ❤️

A couple of days ago, Hannah contacted me with the heartbreaking news that she had to say goodbye to Brad last Friday.

After being treated and hospitalised for a blocked ureter, and then briefly picking up, sadly he went downhill again, and Hannah had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep..

From Hannah – ‘He was an amazing cat who I fell in love with immediately. I miss him so very much. He was such a character and I enjoyed every minute I had with him over the past 6 months. I’ve attached some photos of his time with me’

At 18.5 years of age, Brad lived a longer life than many, and although we hoped he had more time, he lived pain free for the last year of his life and was so very loved

Run free, beautiful Brad. 🌈💔

You were loved, you mattered, and you will never be forgotten.

Thank you, Hannah, for making sure of that. ❤️

Mist & Angelo’s Search for a Forever Home - Volume 100 💔

We never thought we’d still be writing this, again

After receiving a perfect application, we set up a meet & greet, finalised the adoption paperwork and even booked a pick-up time.

We thought, finally… this is it!! 🥹❤️

But sadly, due to unexpected changes in her health, the lovely lady had to withdraw from adopting Mist & Angelo.

And so, here we are again… asking you to please share Mist & Angelo’s profile for what feels like the umpteenth time.

We’re starting to wonder if there really is a home out there for these two.

And I can tell you one thing… Mist & Angelo are NOT impressed that they keep getting overlooked! 😾😾

They have so much love to give and deserve to finally know what it feels like to have a family of their very own.

🙏 PLEASE SHARE 🙏
