It is an absolute delight to share that our beloved Irfan Hashmi, who has done tremendous work in Adelaide, has created a free sports museum that was recently featured on 7NEWS Adelaide.

We are truly grateful for your service, passion, and the positive impact you continue to create for the community. You are building a wonderful image and legacy for all of us.

For those who donโ€™t know, Irfan Hashmi is a pharmacist by profession. On the side, he has a deep passion for sports and collecting memorabilia, all of which are beautifully showcased in his museum and itโ€™s absolutely free to visit.

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Rajiโ€™un

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Abdul Khalid (Khaliq) Kazi in Melbourne, a highly respected member of the Pakistani and wider Muslim community.

Dr Kazi became one of the earliest Muslims to establish himself professionally and socially in the country. In 1961 he together with his wife, came to Australia by Qantas, flying from Karachi with stops in Calcutta, Singapore & Darwin, finally arriving in Sydney. From Sydney they travelled by train to their eventual home in Melbourne. Dr Kazi was born in Karachi. After completing his studies in Pakistan, he spent 3 years at al-Azhar University, Cairo, studying Islamic theology. He holds a BA and PhD from University of London. In cooperation between the University of Melbourne, the Myer Foundation, the Spalding Trust of Oxford and the Pakistan Government, Dr Kazi was offered a five-year contract to start an Arabic and Islamic Studies' program at the University of Melbourne. After that period, he stayed and worked in Australia. With Dr Kazi's academic engagement, Islamic studies would become recognised in his academic pursuits and also within the community.

He served for decades at the Uni of Melbourne, contributing to the development of Arabic and Islamic Studies and mentoring generations of students. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Islamic Society of Victoria and the Australian Federation of Islamic Societies. His loss is felt not only by his family and friends but by the wider Pakistani & Muslim community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time. May Allah (SWT) grant him eternal peace, the highest place in Jannah, and give strength and patience to his loved ones. Ameen.

For those who are following calendar, statement from ANIC.

๐ŸŒ™ EID Al-Fitr Statement for the Year 1447AH I 2026

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad.

We thank Allah (SWT) for giving us the ability to fast in the Month of Ramadan, the ability to worship him, and the ability to fulfil our religious and worldly obligations.

The Australian Fatwa Council is pleased to announce to the Australian Muslim community the following:

The Australian Fatwa Council has confirmed, after further inquiries with both local and global observatories, that:

The Month of Ramadan will conclude on Thursday, 19th March 2026, which will be the last day of Ramadan for 1447AH I 2026

โœ… The Day of Eid Al-Fitr will be on Friday, 20th of March 2026, and the first day of the Month of Shawwal 1447AH I 2026

The method by which the Grand M***i of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Council determined the end of the month of Ramadan, the first day of Shawwal, and the day of Eid Al-Fitr is based on the calculated birth of the moon before sunset, the duration of the moonset after sunset, and the possibility of sighting the moon in Australia and its surrounding region. This is a method that has been adopted by many prominent and reputable global scholarly councils.

The Australian National Imams Council and the Australian Fatwa Council acknowledge, understand and respect the Imams and scholars who may hold a different opinion, and request all Muslims to respect the different opinions on this matter and work towards the unity of the Muslim community in preserving the common values and interests that they all have and share.

The Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, and the member Imams of the Australian National Imams Council, wish the Muslim community a happy, joyful and blessed Eid Al-Fitr, and to remember their brothers and sisters in Gaza โ€“ Palestine in their Duaโ€™a, generous donations, and ongoing support.

We also encourage the Muslim community to engage with their fellow Australian neighbours and friends in displaying the true and peaceful image of Islam.

May Allah accept your fasting and worship in the Month of Ramadan & EID MUBARAK!!

Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad
The Grand M***i of Australia
Chairman of the Australian Fatwa Council

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Our hearts are heavy. The brutal attack on innocent worshippers during Friday prayers in Islamabad, claiming 32 precious lives and injuring over 170, is an assault on our faith, our peace, and our very humanity.

The recent tragedies in Quetta and Islamabad are not isolated. They are part of a persistent campaign of terror targeting Pakistan.

A harsh reality is being laid bare for the world. The Netflix movie "Dhurandhar" showcases a chilling admission: the planning and funding of terrorism from Afghan soil to destabilize Balochistan and support groups like the BLA.

This is compounded by a disturbing trend: terrorists killed in valiant operations by Pakistan's security forces are glorified as "freedom fighters" by certain circles across the border. This is not freedom; this is the murder of innocent civilians.

We must call terrorism by its name, regardless of its origin or false narrative. We condemn:
โŒ All forms of terrorism.
โŒ State-sponsored terrorism and cross-border planning.
โŒ The glorification of terrorists on social media.

It is time for the international community to recognize and act against the states that use terrorism as a tool of foreign policy. Pakistan's sacrifices demand nothing less.
