This might be a curveball, but it’s worthwhile: DO YOUR SETUs!

We get hundreds of emails about education conditions and academic policies at the University, but whenever we bring it up to the people who make the big decisions they say ‘this barely came up in SETU - it’s not worth it’.

We want that to change. So, this week (in a study break or planning that Euro Summer) please take the time to fill out your SETUs and make a difference where you can.

PLEASE DO YOUR SETUS!
So many of the decisions that Monash makes - good or bad - are justified by SETU data.
Just ask law students, who had tutorials taken away from them because the Dean saw students ask for ‘more active learning’ and fundamentally changed the nature of their Uni experience in response.
While that change didn’t last, the point endures: the Uni pays attention to the feedback students give. The issue is that far too few people contribute, which means the Uni is making worse decisions - on purpose or otherwise.
Response rates hover around 20-30%, and we want you to help bump this up. This’ll help us fight for smaller class sizes, less group assignments, better SpecCon policies, and so much more.
SETU closes this Friday 7 of June. Get on it!

Education (Academic Affairs) was in Canberra this week showing solidarity for the in their fight against the Job Ready Graduates scheme, the Morrison-era crackdown on arts degrees and students that Albo and Labor have been sticking with for four years now.

We agree with the NUS in their disappointment that the budget had nothing for students, with the Treasurer not even mentioning our sector or interests once.

As Ruby stated in her interview with the ABC on triple j hack, to stick with JRG is to stick it to students. Stand with us as we fight to change the status quo and build back better.
