Have you ever felt called by God, but then thought, “My English isn't good enough”?
Learning a language is important. It helps us connect, understand culture, and communicate better. But sometimes what should be a tool becomes an excuse.
What if learning a language is already part of the mission?
You walk into a classroom and suddenly you're surrounded by people from different nations, cultures, and backgrounds. The nations you've been praying for might be sitting right beside you.
A conversation becomes an opportunity.
A friendship becomes an opportunity.
A classroom becomes an opportunity to share the Gospel.
Yes, learn the language.
Yes, prepare yourself.
But don't wait until you're perfect to obey God.
Your accent is not your limitation.
Your current level is not your calling.
The nations don't need perfect people.
They need people willing to say yes.

Sometimes the mission doesn't begin after language school.
Sometimes it begins inside the classroom.

The Kingdom of God has always advanced through pioneers—people willing to step into the unknown and follow God's call. But before we can impact nations, we must first know the God who sends us.

At YWAM Lives and Tribes, we believe that pioneering and discipleship go hand in hand. Vision needs foundation. Passion needs direction. Mission needs roots.

That's why our Discipleship Bible School (DBS) is more than a Bible course. It's an opportunity to immerse yourself in God's story, understand His heart for the nations, grow in authentic community, and be equipped for a life of purpose and mission.

In a generation searching for meaning, we believe deep biblical foundations and genuine discipleship are more important than ever. The strongest pioneers are those who know God's Word, walk closely with Him, and grow alongside others.

If you're hungry to know the Bible more deeply, strengthen your faith, and discover your place in God's mission, this could be your next step.

Open doors

I’ve heard stories of people being the first missionaries to places, sharing the gospel where it’s never been. I never imagined I’d have that opportunity, the privilege of sharing the name of Jesus to children who did not know Him.

While on our DTS outreach in Thailand, our team was given the authority to teach a full day program to a Buddhist school. Over 100 students observed our dramas, testimonies, and an explanation of the Gospel! At the end, we even had the chance to pray for all of them!
The hunger to know Jesus among these children was strong! Even the teachers remarked that they wanted us to come back, and the students shared how powerful it was to hear about this freedom and love of Jesus.

This school in Phang Nga Thailand has now
been marked by Jesus, and it wouldn’t have been possible if our YWAM team and contacts did not obey the Lord and His Holy Spirit!! A simple act of obedience can transform hundreds of lives!

The Kingdom of God often shines brightest in the places the world overlooks.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of visiting a community center in Thailand and spending time with new believers in Christ. Many of them come from very difficult backgrounds. We met people with disabilities, women whose lives were transformed after leaving prostitution, and others who found hope through an encounter with Jesus.

By the world's standards, they have very little. Many have been marginalized by society and face daily challenges that most of us can hardly imagine.

Yet what impacted our hearts the most was not their hardship, but their generosity.

They prepared a place for us to gather, worship, and study God's Word together. Before we even began, they made sure each of us received a bottle of water. It may seem like a small gesture, but it deeply moved us. They gave what they had, and they gave it with joy.

Their attitude reminded us of the widow Jesus spoke about in Scripture. While others gave out of their abundance, she gave the little she had. Jesus saw her sacrifice and honored her faith.

These brothers and sisters have found the freedom and hope that can only be found in Christ. Rather than being defined by what they lack, they are learning to live from what they have received in Him.

Their hospitality, humility, and joy were a powerful reminder that the Kingdom of God often shines brightest in the places the world tends to overlook.

When Jesus transforms a life, even in the midst of hardship, He produces a joy that no circumstance can take away.

Sometimes missions doesn’t just take you beyond your comfort zone… it reveals your heart.

One of the biggest things outreach has been teaching me is that missions is so much more than traveling, preaching, or serving in another nation. It’s about learning how to truly love people.
Living in a completely different culture has challenged me in ways I never expected. There have been moments sitting around a table where everything felt unfamiliar — the language, the food, the customs, even eating pork almost every single day 😂 — and yet, God has been teaching me something beautiful through it all.

I’ve learned that in many cultures, sharing food is more than just eating together. It’s a way of welcoming you, honoring you, and loving you.
And sometimes loving people well means laying down your own preferences, comfort, and expectations in order to meet people where they are.
That’s what missions has been doing in me.
Not just teaching me how to serve others… but teaching me how to die to myself so I can love more like Jesus.

Every uncomfortable moment, every conversation, every shared meal, and every step of faith has been shaping my character, deepening my faith, and expanding my love for the nations — because the nations are people. 🙌🔥

Honestly, I never imagined I would get to live something like this.
But being here has reminded me that some of the most beautiful parts of following Jesus happen on the other side of our “yes.”
If you feel God stirring your heart for missions, discipleship, leadership, or the nations — even if it feels uncertain, uncomfortable, or scary — say yes.

Because God won’t only use you to impact people…
He will transform you in the process too.

And there is truly nothing more beautiful than living adventures with Jesus and watching His Kingdom move across the earth.

Maybe God isn’t only calling you to support missions…
Maybe He’s inviting you to be part of the story. 🌍✨
If you’re searching for purpose, community, discipleship, or a season that will challenge and grow your faith, follow along and explore what God could do through your yes.

Why You Should Do a DTS at YWAM Lives and Tribes (Melbourne, Australia)

Are you in your late teens or twenties and currently searching for purpose, direction, or a deeper faith experience?
Maybe you’ve found yourself asking questions like:
“What am I called to do with my life?”
“How do I grow spiritually in a real way?”
“Should I take a gap year?”
“Why do I feel like I want more than just a normal routine?”

If that’s you, you’re not alone.
Across Melbourne, Australia, and around the world, many young adults are realizing that success, study, or work alone doesn’t fully satisfy the deeper hunger for purpose, identity, community, and spiritual growth.

This is exactly why a DTS (Discipleship Training School) at YWAM Lives and Tribes can be such a powerful and life-shaping experience.

A DTS is not just a course or a program — it is a season set apart to step out of distraction and intentionally grow in your relationship with God, discover your identity, and gain clarity for your future.

Throughout this journey, you will be invited into a process of transformation where you can:
Discover your purpose and identity in God.
Grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
Learn how to hear God’s voice and apply biblical truth.
Build strong character and leadership foundations.
Experience real community with young people from different nations.
Step into missions, outreach, and practical service

Many young adults come feeling uncertain, stuck, or simply searching for direction. But they often leave with something much deeper: clarity, confidence in their calling, spiritual maturity, and a new sense of purpose for their life.

If you are considering a gap year in Australia, or you are looking for a Christian community in Melbourne where you can grow, be challenged, and discover what God has for your life, this could be your next step.

YWAM Lives and Tribes is a place where leadership is developed, identity is strengthened, and lives are transformed through encounter, discipleship, and mission.

When we think about pioneering, we often think about building something new… but it’s so much more than that.

It’s about building family. It’s about forming deep, real relationships and choosing to walk in genuine love every single day.

Through the highs and the lows, I’ve realized that the most valuable part of this journey isn’t what we build—it’s who we build it with.

Ministry becomes something powerful when it’s done with friends who turn into family.

Truly grateful for this journey.

Grateful for my YWAM family.

YWAM Value No.1

Our first value as a global mission is to know God.

YWAM is committed to know God, His nature, His character and His ways as revealed in the Bible, the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We seek to reflect who He is in every aspect of our lives and ministry. The automatic overflow of knowing and enjoying fellowship with God is a desire to share Him with others. (2Ki 19:19; Job 42:5; Psa 46:10; Psa 103:7-13; Jer 9:23-24; Hos 6:3; Joh 17:3; Eph 1:16-17; Php 3:7-11; 1Jo 2:4-6)

Everything we do as a mission is in response to who He is. And our heart with the DBS is that you go from hearing about God to knowing Him for yourself. Just like Job in the Bible who confess before God:

“I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you…” Job 42:5

And know God, then to send out and make God known.

Passion to Know God and Make Him Known

//A Mission Movement Rising in Melbourne, Australia//

In a world full of noise, distraction, and endless options, there is still a deep hunger in the hearts of many people — a hunger to truly know God and discover their purpose.

Here in Melbourne, Australia, we are witnessing a growing movement of young people who are saying yes to that hunger.

At YWAM Lives and Tribes, we believe that everything begins with a genuine passion:
the passion to know God and to make Him known.

//Knowing God Changes Everything//

Passion for God begins with a sincere desire to seek Him intentionally.

When people truly encounter God, something powerful happens.
Their identity becomes clear. Their purpose begins to unfold.

We believe that when we know God, we discover who we really are.

Knowing His heart transforms the way we live, the way we love people, and the way we see the world. Instead of living for ourselves, we begin to live for something bigger — God’s global purpose.

//From Melbourne to the Nations//

Our community in Melbourne, Australia is part of a global missionary movement through Youth With a Mission (YWAM).

Through discipleship, training schools, and outreach opportunities, we help young people grow in their relationship with God and discover their calling.

But our story doesn’t stop in Melbourne.

When we encounter God, our natural response is obedience.
And that obedience leads us beyond borders.

It leads us to go to the nations.

//A Generation Responding to the Call//

Across the world, a generation is rising with the same cry:

“Send me.”

Movements like The Send are mobilizing thousands of young people who want to live radically for Jesus and bring hope to the nations.

At YWAM Lives and Tribes, we are passionate about helping people move from inspiration to action.

We believe missions is not just for a few —
it’s an invitation for everyone.

//Go to the Nations//

Jesus’ call has always been clear:
to go beyond our comfort zones and carry His love to every culture, tribe, and nation.

At YWAM Lives and Tribes Melbourne, we are committed to raising missionaries, leaders, creatives, and pioneers who will bring the message of Jesus across the world.

Our heart is simple:

🔥 Know God deeply
🌍 Discover your identity
🚶 Walk in obedience
✈️ Go to the nations
