This is a bucket list challenge for us all. Bashing through the Aussie outback in a 1998 Ford Fairlane visiting towns and schools along the way and donating to children's charities. Our aim is to raise $5,000. There's a lot

of work to do on the car so it can survive the 4000km distance from Melbourne to Darwin - mainly on dusty dirt roads. So buckle yourself in, follow this page and join us in the adventure.

This is just a little reminder that we're still collecting any used truck and car batteries to add to our fundraising for this year's Bash to Exmouth. If you've got some that you'd like to donate, let us know and you can either drop them off in Officer or Pakenham, or we can pick them up depending on where you are and the amount.

To everyone who's donated to our fundraising - Variety, the Children's Charity Victoria have released their impact statement for the yr to Sept 2025 - here's a bit of a summary so you can see where your support goes 😊

22,547 Victorian kids were supported with grants totalling $2,139,811 providing essential mobility and communication aids, educational resources, and experiences that opened doors to independence, confidence and joy.

Some of the year’s achievements include:

- The delivery of three new Variety Sunshine Coaches to schools across Victoria

- The successful second year of the Future Leaders Program

- The launch of the Just Like You Program, delivering powerful workshops that helped students and teachers embrace empathy and understanding of disability

- A new partnership with the Hawthorn Football Club, bringing inclusive experiences to life through the Inclusion Project and the inaugural Inclusion Game held last August

Before Christmas we had a post about the 2026 Bash Rookies, Stacey and Amelia ......

As an update, we've been collecting the 10c refundable cans and bottles with the help of Billy Will Metcalfe and Fleur Dack which have been taken along and cashed in for $250. Shout out to the guys at the Berwick deposit scheme depot in Enterprise Ave for their help - they have a drive through facility which makes dropping off a ute full of items so much easier!

As we've already reached our target of $7,000 (😀🎉thank you), we decided that we'd help out Amelia and Stacey by donating this to their car. We're still collecting and thanks to Mark and Jayden McCann Mc Lozza for their donation in getting the next batch started.

Each year, Variety, the children’s charity, puts on a kids Christmas party for Victorian kids experiencing disadvantage or living with disability or illness. It’s a huge event with so much work by the Variety staff and volunteers to get everything prepared, it’s very impressive.

There was meant to be about 3.5 thousand kids there 😳but given the heat yesterday, it was probably less.

We played our small part and rocked up yesterday with the Wonka car. Photos don’t really reflect how busy we were as we could only take photos when it was quiet, but we had many excited kids (and a surprising number of adults 🤣) who wanted a photo with us and the car.

Hopefully we helped to make a difference and it was great to experience another side of Variety’s work.

At the 2026 Bash launch day in October, Peter met Stacey and Amelia, a couple of Rookies keen to take part next year. As a man with lots of spare time on his hands 🤣😳, Peter offered to help them get their vehicle Bash ready........Amelia is living with Ataxia Talengetasia and Type 1 diabetes and is an ovarian cancer survivor since 14 years of age. She says she’s like a unicorn and in her words - is totally amazing🤣.

So a few weeks ago, Stacey and Amelia brought their wheelchair accessible Kia Carnival over to our place so that work could begin......the car now has a pod on the roof, a different exhaust system and some new wheels to lift up the vehicle a bit, plus various parts picked up from the wreckers. They'll have their own page and I'll put a link on here once it's set up in the new year for anyone that wants to follow their journey too.

Did something a bit different for fundraising yesterday- we took over the Cheer toastie van at the Corporate Games event in Albert Park and sold toasties to raise money for Variety. It was a fun morning with quite a few people interested in the work of Variety and the Bash😀
