The Reece Fire + ReFire H-Pattern Hydrant Competition had Fire Australia 2026 attendees cheering from the sidelines as teams raced the clock to assemble a standardised H-pattern fire hydrant booster.

Congratulations to Jake and Jordan from Fire Plumb Victoria, who took home the win and a $1,000 charity donation prize 👏

A big thank you to Reece Fire, ReFire Group, Victaulic Company, Shae Mete, Anthony Lada, Milwaukee Tool and the FPA Australia team for helping bring the competition to life.

Last week, FWF Executive Director Di attended Fire Australia 2026 in Melbourne, where the Foundation was proud to be the official charity partner of FPA Australia premier industry event.

Di was joined by Dr Angus Barber, recipient of the FPAA Scholarship. Together, they connected with members of the fire protection community, learned more about the innovation and leadership driving the sector, and shared how FPAA’s ongoing support is directly contributing to world-leading burns research.

As part of the event, the Foundation was also proud to host a charity raffle.

A special thank you to Protection Engineering for sponsoring the major prize. As a leading Western Australian organisation, Protection Engineering continues to show what genuine community leadership looks like. Their support goes beyond sponsorship and helps drive the research, care and innovation needed to improve outcomes for burn survivors and their families.

Thank you also to Building Services Recruitment Australia, The Star Gold Coast and Crown Melbourne for their raffle donations and support.

Finally, thank you to Fire Protection Association Australia and its members for their continued partnership and commitment to supporting the next generation of researchers through the FPAA Scholarship.

Today’s program explored some of the industry’s biggest challenges and opportunities including compliance reform, fire engineering innovation, bushfire resilience, battery fire risks, passive fire protection, and the future of building safety.

The tradeshow floor was buzzing, breakout sessions were well attended, and it was fantastic to see so many valuable conversations and connections happening across the industry.
