Today, the Subaru 4WD Club of Victoria has expanded to include not only owners of Subarus but also the owners of all other 4WD vehicles, who collectively wish to participate in exploration of the Australia countryside without causing damage to the environment, the vehicle or the individual. The Subaru 4WD Club of Victoria actively encourage people with non-Subaru vehicles to become members, especially owners of smaller 4WD's and 'crossover' or softroader vehicles.

You never know who you’ll meet in the Simpson Desert!

While our Subaru 4WD Club crew was making our way across the Simpson, we happened to cross paths with none other than Outback Mike!

Mike was out there doing what he does best — tackling the Australian outback and documenting the adventure — and our little meeting has made it into his latest YouTube video. 😄

It was great to stop for a chat in one of the most remote and spectacular parts of Australia, and even better to see a few familiar Subarus pop up on his channel!

🎙️ Well, this wasn’t on the Simpson Desert itinerary! 😂

While on our recent Simpson trip, Nick and I stopped in at the legendary Betoota Pub and happened to meet Andy Ireland from The 4WDTribe Podcast

A bit of chatting turned into swapping stories about our trip… which somehow turned into, “Hey, would you like to come on the podcast?” 😄

So we did!

We chat with Andy about the club’s Simpson Desert crossing, some of the adventures (and challenges!) along the way, our vehicle setup and preparation, and of course, plenty of Subaru and 4WD talk.

It was a lot of fun sharing our adventure and talking about what our slightly unconventional Subarus are capable of when you take them well beyond the bitumen.
