Professor Gil-Soo Han, FCWMโ€™s brain and the backbone of our organisation, recently published his book.

โ€œCalculated Nationalism in Contemporary South Koreaโ€ explores Korean grassrootsโ€™ perception of their nation-state, national identities and what they desire from their national moving forward. This book delves into the minds of Koreans and their fight for progress in the face of struggles. Professor Han has also dedicated one of the chapters on the movement to redress the Japanese Military โ€œComfort Womenโ€, which we seek to explore further through this book concert.

Our Story

Melbourne "Comfort Women" Memorial Task Force (MCWM Task Force) A non-profit organisation based in Melbourne, Australia standing for "Comfort Women's" rights, and further world peace and justice.

We actively started this journey with 70 people participating in our first official meeting on November 28, 2016. We decided to establish a 'Statue of Peace' in cooperation with various communities in Melbourne, a multicultural society.

Above all, we will recognise the wrong history of the past, further develop into advocates of anti-war, peace and human rights movements, with the aim of preventing the repetition of history, and contribute to maintaining justice and peace within society.
