කුරුඳු වත්තේ (Cinnamon Gardens) හදවතේ පිහිටා ඇති කොළඹ 07 ශාන්ත බ්‍රිජට් කන්‍යාරාමය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කීර්තිමත්ම සහ ඓතිහාසික කතෝලික බාලිකා පාසලක් ලෙස විශිෂ්ට නාමයක් දිනා ඇත. කොළඹ අගරදගුරු ආචාර්ය ටී.ඒ. මෙලිසාන් හිමිපාණන්ගේ ඉල්ලීමකට අනුව ගුඩ් ෂෙපර්ඩ් කන්‍යා සොහොයුරියන් විසින් 1902 පෙබරවාරි 1 වන දින මෙම විද්‍යාලය ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. සියවසකට වැඩි කාලයක් පුරා තරුණ දියණියන්ගේ මනස සහ චරිතය හැඩගැස්වීම සඳහා මෙම පාසල නොසැලෙන උත්සාහයක් පවත්වා ගෙන යයි.

ටරට් පාරේ 'ද ෆර්ස්' (The Firs) නම් කුලියට ගත් නිවසකින් සිය ගමන ආරම්භ කළ මෙම කන්‍යාරාමය, අද වන විට මොන්ටිසෝරි, ප්‍රාථමික සහ ද්විතීයික අංශයන්ගෙන් සමන්විත ප්‍රමුඛ පෙළේ අධ්‍යාපන ආයතනයක් බවට පුළුල් වී ඇත. වර්තමානයේ මෙම පාසලේ නායකත්වය දරනු ලබන්නේ ද්විතීයික අංශයේ විදුහල්පතිනිය ලෙස ගරු සුජානි ප්‍රනාන්දු කන්‍යා සොහොයුරිය විසිනි.

ශාන්ත බ්‍රිජට් කන්‍යාරාමය එහි අයර්ලන්ත කතෝලික මූලයන් සමඟ ගැඹුරින් බැඳී පවතින අතර, පාසල් ලාංඡනයේ ඇති තද කොළ පැහැති ෂැම්රොක් (shamrock) පත්‍රයෙන් එය සංකේතවත් කෙරේ. "මෘදු ලෙස සහ ස්ථිර ලෙස" (Gently and Firmly) යන පාසල් ආදර්ශ පාඨයෙන් මඟ පෙන්වනු ලබන මෙම ආයතනය, ශාස්ත්‍රීය විශිෂ්ටත්වය පමණක් නොව සිසුවියන්ගේ පූර්ණ සංවර්ධනය සහ සමාජ වගකීම කෙරෙහි ද දැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කරයි.

ශාන්ත බ්‍රිජට් කන්‍යාරාමයේ ඓතිහාසික වැදගත්කම වඩාත් හොඳින් පිළිඹිබු වන්නේ එහි අතිවිශිෂ්ට ආදි සිසුවියන්ගේ නාමාවලිය හරහාය. ලොව ප්‍රථම අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරිය ලෙස ඉතිහාසයට එක් වූ සිරිමාවෝ බණ්ඩාරනායක මැතිනිය පාසලේ කීර්තිමත් ආදි සිසුවියකි. එසේම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම විධායක ජනාධිපතිනිය වූ චන්ද්‍රිකා බණ්ඩාරනායක කුමාරතුංග මහත්මිය ද මෙම පාසලේ අධ්‍යාපනය ලැබුවාය. මීට අමතරව, ජනප්‍රිය ගායිකා මිග්නෝන් ප්‍රනාන්දු සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම කාන්තා බැරිස්ටර්වරිය වන එස්ලින් දැරණියගල ද මෙම විද්‍යාලයේ කැපී පෙනෙන ආදි සිසුවියන් අතර වෙති. අද වන විටත් ශාන්ත බ්‍රිජට් කන්‍යාරාමය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කාන්තා අධ්‍යාපනයේ ප්‍රබල කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක් ලෙස පවතී. පොහොසත් ඓතිහාසික සම්ප්‍රදායන් නවීන අධ්‍යාපනික ක්‍රමවේද සමඟ මනාව මුසු කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික කාන්තාවන් සවිබල ගන්වයි.

Huge Congratulations!!
Taking another giant leap in ever-evolving digital technology and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education, a young Bridgetine Seneesa Gunawardana has received the opportunity to take Sri Lanka's name to the international stage.

Seneesa was chosen following a rigorous selection process from among 200 Sri Lankan students currently undergoing specialized training under the national STEM education program.

According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, her achievement marks a milestone in both education and diplomacy, offering Sri Lanka a platform to showcase its young scientific talent in advanced space technology.

The official program will be held from August 22 to 31, 2026, at Gautam Buddha University in India.

During the summit, Seneesa is scheduled to participate in high‑level engagements alongside the Prime Minister of India and the President of India, underscoring the international significance of the mission.

The Ministry of Digital Economy described the initiative as a “transformative global opportunity,” highlighting its role in fostering innovation and strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in international scientific collaboration. (Newswire)
