📢 DEADLINE EXTENDED TO TUES 28 APRIL!

FYA is going through a transformation process to build on what we’ve always done: back young people who are challenging injustice and working towards a more just and equitable future, with integrity, and for the long term.

There’s more we’ll share about that soon, but as our first step we’re looking for young people (16–26) and First Nations people (any age) to help design FYA’s Change Crew — the group that will guide how our organisation changes.

This is a paid opportunity: three online sessions in May and June, $100 per session (up to $300).

The process is being led by Turnstone Collective, an Indigenous-owned consulting firm.

📅 Sessions: 6 May | 18 May | 10 June - 5–6:30pm AEST
⏰ Applications close this Tuesday 28 April! Apply ASAP

FYA has signed Talk Black's open letter, calling on the Australian Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke MP to do more to stop racist violence against First Nations people, after the terrorist attack on the Boorloo Invasion Day protest last week. Many of the young people that have taken part in FYA programs were there and have been impacted by both the attack and the double standards in the official response to it.

In addition to what is in the open letter, protest organisers are calling for:
• The WA Police, ASIO and the AFP to investigate this attack as a hate crime, as well as a terror offence.
• The WA Police Commissioner to urgently meet with the rally organisers.
• The Federal Government to expand the terms of the Royal Commission to cover all forms of racism and far-right extremism.
• The Federal Government to endorse and implement the Australian Human Rights Commission's National Anti-Racism Framework.

From Boorloo to Bondi, everyone living on this continent has the right to live, practice their culture and exercise their democratic rights free from hate crimes.
