Speakers and session times have dropped for BlakAbolition Community Day! 🖤

This is a family friendly event with free food and coffee from 11.30am. Including pizza from NDD | Pizza Catering | Melbourne !

What to expect on the day:

11.30AM Welcome & smoking

11.45AM a 2 hour GAMMIN! workshop (you can even bring your own items to customise!)

After the workshops you can hear from our speakers:

This is a safe space for First Nations people - come as you are, connect, learn, and celebrate together.

Far too often, decisions are made for young people without asking them what they think. No one knows YOU better than YOU.

We’re working with DIYDG and Turnstone Collective to hold a series of First Nations-led Youth Yarns across Australia for ALL young people aged 16–26 to share your experiences and help inform FYA’s strategy going forward.

Come along, have a feed, meet other young people and yarn about what young people need to feel safe, supported and heard.

📍 Darwin, Canberra, Alice Springs, Perth, Adelaide, Broome, Ceduna, Melbourne, Shepparton, Hobart, Sydney and Brisbane, plus two online sessions

No one knows you better than you!

Our friends at DIYDG are hosting chats for young people across Australia in a series of First Nations-led Youth Yarns and the first ones are happening THIS WEEK.

Come along, have a feed, meet other young people and yarn about what you actually need to feel safe, supported, and heard. Your voice will directly shape what the youth sector prioritises in the future.

All young people aged 16–25 are welcome. No registration needed, just drop by!

📍 Sydney. Thursday 25 June, 12–2pm & 3–6pm National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, Redfern

Last month we kicked off FYA's Making Waves Fellowship in the best way possible - in person at Commonground on beautiful Taungurung Country.

Making Waves Fellowship brings together two of our most loved programs, Step Up! and Media for Advocacy, with a new focus on wellbeing and sustainable activism. Because fighting for justice is a marathon, not a sprint, and we want young organisers to go the distance without burning out.

Running for the rest of 2026, the Fellowship gives young organisers the skills, networks, and support to sustainably scale up their fight for justice, whatever the cause. 💪

FYA is going through a transformation process to build on what we’ve always done: back young people who are challenging injustice and working towards a more just and equitable future, with integrity, and for the long term.

There’s more we’ll share about that soon, but as our first step we’re looking for young people (16–26) and First Nations people (any age) to help design FYA’s Change Crew — the group that will guide how our organisation changes.

This is a paid opportunity: three online sessions in May and June, $100 per session (up to $300).

The process is being led by Turnstone Collective, an Indigenous-owned consulting firm.
