🌈 Today is IDAHOBIT: the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Why May 17?
On this exact day in 1990, the World Health Organisation finally removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. While it was a historic milestone, the fight against discrimination, erasure, and prejudice continues every single day.

At the Melbourne Q***r Film Festival, we know firsthand that visibility saves lives. Cinema is more than just entertainment; it’s a powerful tool to dismantle stereotypes, challenge biases, and project our authentic truths onto the big screen. When we share our stories, we build empathy, bridge divides, and fight back against the bigotry that targets our community. 🎬✨

Today, and every day, we stand in solidarity with our entire LGBTIQA+ community in Melbourne and across the globe. Let’s keep raising our voices, uplifting q***r creators, and changing the world, one frame at a time.
