Welcome everyone on this April fools day. The weather is starting to cool down, but there are still plenty of fish to be caught. The barbecue becomes extra popular on these nights, with plenty of meat for everyone.
We had our annual Hollands Landing Trip this weekend, a d there were plenty of fish on the bite. We had some great results, and there plenty of laughs. Conditions were ideal, so it was another great getaway. Congratulations to the winner of the comp Paul, closely followed in second and third by Peter and Nick. Also a standout fish of 45cm caught by George Karagiannis .
Thank you to our major sponsors Compleat Angler Dandenong and Fish Candy for supporting all our competitions, prizes and our fortnightly raffle. Your support is very much appreciated.
Thank you to everyone that came tonight. Tight lines and we will see you again in 2 weeks.

Just a reminder to everyone that the annual Hollands Landing Bream Comp is on this weekend. The gippsland lakes have strict size limits on bream that we all need to adhere to. You cannot keep any fish under 28cm long, or over 38cm long. So for the comp, you will need to take a photo of your fish over 38cm, on a brag mat, so we can clearly see the size. The length of your 3 largest declared fish will be added to determine the biggest bag and competition winner. There is also a possession limit of only 7 bream, so please keep this in mind guys. There is a sandworm supplier in Sale, so contact us if you need help finding bait for the weekend.
Once again, thankyou to everyone that turned up tonight tonight's meeting. We had some great fishing reports with whiting and squid dominating the reports. Fish Candy once again proving the difference, the best bait in Australia by far.
The raffle was once again provided by Compleat Angler Dandenong , so thankyou to the boys.
Good luck this weekend and tight lines.

It has been a welcome cool change tonight, but the fishing is still hotting up. Thank you to all the members that turned up tonight. The octopus and chops on the bbq really hit the spot. Anyone looking at attending our annual Hollands Landing trip, please let us know ASAP so we can get everything booked.
We had some great reports coming in from southern NSW with everything from Marlin and bonito to salmon coming in large numbers. In the local bays, we have whiting and squid being caught in good numbers.
We had some great raffle prizes this week, once again supplied by Compleat Angler Dandenong . Everyone please have a safe nd great long weekend, tight lines and catch you all in 2 weeks time.

I would like to thank everyone for the great turn out tonight. And it was a perfect night for a barbecue and a beer or two. I would like to thank Anesti from Nestys Charcoal Chicken for supplying the food for the bbq. Absolutely delicious spread of food and a great bloke. For more great food, you can catch Anesti at his shop @ 706 Centre Rd Bentleigh East. Thankyou Anesti, you are a gentleman.
First on the Agenda was the winners of the whiting comp. It was a great turnout, and some great fish were caught. Congratulations to the winner George Karagiannis with a whopping fish weighing in at just under 500 grams. He worked hard for the fish and it paid off, Fish Candy bait proving the difference again.
Then we had the fishing reports for the week. There is some good fishing g for those putting the time in. Whiting, squid and even kingfish turning up in the bay.
To finish the evening, we had our fortnightly raffle. Once again, thank you to Compleat Angler Dandenong for their support with the prizes.
Just a reminder that our Lakes prawn trip is coming quickly. Let us know ASAP if you would like to come so we can organise accommodation. The annual trip to Hollands Landing is also just around the corner so let us know if you would like to book a spot.
Thankyou for a great night and tight lines guys.

First club meeting for the year, and what a pearler of a night. It was a great turn out and Steve from Hellenic Depot didn't disappoint when it came to the barbecue. What a great spread, and will definitely becoming to your tavern in Carnegie for more. It was also a massive prize pool for the raffle, with the major prize being a $450 rod and reel set. Once again thank you to Compleat Angler Dandenong and Fish Candy for donating all the prizes once again. Please support the businesses that support the club.
On the fishing front, there were some scattered reports from around the bay and interstate. But more importantly, we have a prawn trip coming up at lakes entrance. If we can get numbers it would be great as this will be at the end of the month. The whiting comp location has been decided and it will definitely be Port Phillip Bay so get in quickly so we can organise.
This year our annual Hollands Landing trip has been brought forward to March, so let us know if you want to be a part of this great trip.
Thank you everyone for a great start to the year and I look forward to another great season. Tight lines and see you all in 2 weeks.

It has been a great year, and what a great turn out for the last meeting of the year. A full house to mark the occasion and free souvlaki on the bbq. We started the proceedings with some souvlaki and loukaniko on the bbq, with the bar flowing with drinks. Lots of laughter and stories were also flowing. Then the results of the weekends snapper comp was next. It was a clean sweep by the Nikolitsis family with Nick coming in 3rd, Chris coming in second, and Harry winning the comp with a fish of 6.35kg. A big thank you to Paul from Fish Candy for supplying the bait that makes these comps so succesful. It pays to go a little bit further to make sure you buy only fish candy bait. Look for it at your local tackle store.
Then we had the awarding of the Fisherman of the year, which is the cumulative score from all the comps throughout the year. We had a first time winner with one of our younger members after 9years at the club. Congratulations Chris Stathopoulos, well earned and keep it up.
We finished the night with a massive raffle giveaway including a major prize of a Shimano baitrunner 6000 reel. Once again thank you to Compleat Angler Dandenong for the huge support all year. They have been a great support and I urge all the boys to support the guys that support our club, and they are great guys down there in Dandenong.
Thank you all once again, everyone have a great and safe Christmas, and I look forward to hearing all the fishing stories when you get back next year. Tight lines guys. 🎣

First of all I would like to thank all the outgoing committee members following last week's AGM. These guys donate their time week in week out to keep the club running. Thank you guys, your efforts are much appreciated.
For the new committee, congratulations and I look forward to the events to come. I would also like to personally thank Chris Nikolitsis for his great spell as President of the club, and Paul Nimo as the new incoming President. We all look forward to the great vision Paul has for the future of the Clayton Fishing Club. To kick things off, we had our fortnightly barbecue and raffle tonight. And it was a great turnout and great prizes up for grabs.
Just a reminder that we are making a submission to Parks Victoria to add some navigation lights in the mordialoc creek between the boat ramp and the rail bridge. Please let us know your experiences and incidents or near misses in this area during the hours of darkness, so we can let the correct authorities know. Photos would be great, as the more information we give, the quicker we can get some action towards fixing this safety issue.
Once again a big thankyou to our sponsors of the raffle Compleat Angler Dandenong and Fish Candy bait. For the best bait and tackle in Australia, look no further than these 2 businesses, and some great blokes as well.
Tight lines and catch you all in 2 weeks.

I would like to thank everyone for coming down tonight. It was a cold night but the barbecue always warms things up. It was good to see some old faces and some new faces as well.
We had our Westernport Whiting comp recently, and there were some tough fishing conditions. The winning fish was 1 pound on the old scale, and there was a bit of a story to accompany it. Congratulations Chris, you defied everything to get out there and catch the winning fish. Fish Candy bait and berley once again proving the difference. It really is the best quality bait and berley in the market today. Do yourself a favour and only buy fish Candy bait to improve your catches.
Let's not forget Compleat Angler Dandenong for supporting our raffle once again. With the calamari comp coming soon, dont forget to pickup some jigs from the boys at complete angler dandenong.Have a great night and tight lines.

It was a cold and wet night tonight, but a good turnout regardless. There were some great reports coming again from the members so it is still worth your time to wet a line. The Twin Rivers Bream comp was on last weekend in the gippsland lakes and there were some thumping bream caught. The mouths of the rivers offered the better fishing. One must for a successful trip was the Fish Candy barley. Always use the best and freshest burley and bait if you want the best results. Tonight we had the presentation for our trout competition a couple of weeks ago out at Karkarook Lake. Congratulations to the winners, Michael Agathokleous , George and Nick with the winning fish a thumping 1.3kg rainbow trout. Once again, we have the prizes for the comps and fortnightly raffle sponsored and supplied by Compleat Angler Dandenong . A reminder that this weekend is our whiting competition, so let us know if you would like to enter before this Friday. Have a great week and tight lines.

It was a great turnout for such a cold night. The bbq was popular tonight, but after a pearler of a weekend, there were lots of great fishing stories. We had the presentation of our previous flathead competition. Congratulations to all the winners, Peter in 3rd, Chris in 2nd and in first place George with a flathead over 1lb. We also had our Freshwater Comp at Karkarook Lake and there were lots of trout caught. The winners will be announced at the next meeting so we will see you next week for that one. Have a great night and see you in 2 weeks.

The coldest night of the year so far, but it was good to see 20 members still turn up turn up. The charcoal bbq is always popular on these days and tonight was no different. We also had the presentations for our annual salmon competition at Gunnamatta. There were some great fish caught, and the winning fish went a respectable 1.64kg. Thank you to everyone that turned up and we will see you all in 2 weeks for the presentation of the flathead competition. Let's not forget our major sponsors who make this all possible. Compleat Angler Dandenong and Fish Candy , thank you for your support. See you all in 2 weeks.

Thank you to Con Katsa for putting on the souvlaki night tonight. You always put on a great spread and you may have rolled a souvlaki or 2 in your time. Great effort buddy and we appreciate what you bring to the club year after year. We had 2 guest speakers today from Victorian Fisheries Authority . The guys gave us some great information regarding the importance of the work the fisheries have been doing in Vic. Also the dramatic improvement in the fishing landscape thanks to the restocking programs and the commercial license buyouts over the last few years. These guys are passionate about making Victoria the premier fishing state in Australia. Victoria now stocks 11,000,000 fish a year in Victoria which is more than the rest of Australia combined. Thank you guys and keep up the great work. Once again I would like to thank Compleat Angler Dandenong and Paul from Fish Candy for the raffle prizes again. These guys are the lifeblood of our club so please show your support by supporting their businesses.
