Flashback to a great session with a family of Rainbow Bee-eaters late last year - the adults were back and forth grabbing bugs for the kids - the final shot is a bit of a mess but captures the moment they all decided to fly off about the same time! One of my favorite bird photos - taken in Exmouth at a campground in 2019 on an unforgettable trip with milzy. A flock of Galahs were mucking around near our campsite. This female was giving me the (red) eye. FYI Western Australian Galahs are a different sub-species (rosicapilla rosicapilla) and have a pinker crest & pale grey eye ring. A Yellow Honeyeater - always good to see one of these in Far North Queensland- this one at Abbatoir Swamp - their slightly dark eyeline makes this one look a bit grumpy - but it was pretty happy feeding and posing for us. 🕊️

It’s so here’s a Magpie Goose in various states of flight ! What’s a Magpie Goose you say? Well, it’s a special species of bird. It’s native to tropical northern Australia (and southern New Guinea) that belongs to its own unique taxonomic family, Anseranatidae. Occasionally they turn up in Victoria but this one was with a flock enjoying a golf course in Port Douglas ! 🕊️🕊️
