Toronto is banning motorized watercraft near some of its busiest waterfront spots this summer. A new exclusion zone will restrict boats and jet skis within 150 metres of areas like Humber Bay Shores, Hanlan’s Point, and Woodbine Beach.
The move is aimed at improving safety for swimmers and reducing noise along popular shoreline areas as lakefront traffic continues to grow. City officials are also looking at expanding the restrictions to more parks in 2027, pending approval from Transport Canada.
With waterfront use hitting new highs each summer, the change could reshape how people experience some of Toronto’s most crowded beaches and public spaces.
