Cycling Without Age - Mandurah

Cycling Without Age - Mandurah Older adults and people with barriers to mobility can enjoy our beautiful city in comfort. It also assists them in feeling seen and part of community.

We take older adults and people with barriers to mobility out for rides around the beautiful Mandurah waterways, along the foreshore and at events in specially designed Trishaws. The rides help to free passengers from social isolation, bring back memories and bring smiles to their faces. We give them the right to feel wind in their or hair or on their face. This experience is also about the volunt

eers. Cycling Without Age is more about active citizenship. Citizenship driven by the desire to get involved and make a real difference in someone's life. It is about creating relationships between people. Our Guiding Principles:

Generosity: Generosity permeates every single activity in Cycling Without Age and works it magic at many different levels. Slowness: Slowness allows you to sense the environment, be present in the moment and allows people you along the way to be curious about Cycling Without Age. Storytelling: We tell stories, we listen to stories of the passengers and we document these stories and share them via word of mouth or on social media. Relationships: We create a multitude of new relationships across any border in our society. Without Age: We let people age in a positive context fully aware of the opportunities that lie ahead when interacting with their local community. We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team in the roles of Pilots and Coordinators. The Trishaws are battery assisted so very easy to ride.

This was a fun day when I was training Kate and was captured by Rhys Williams’ photographer Daniel Wilkins….it may have been a little staged πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, it’s great to recognise the wonderful volunteers behind Cycling Without Age Mandurah.

Many locals would have spotted their specialised bikes cruising around Mandurah, giving older adults and people with barriers to mobility the chance to get out, enjoy the fresh air and take in our beautiful city.
What might seem like a simple ride can mean so much.

The volunteers donating their time to pedal these bikes are helping make Mandurah a more inclusive, connected and caring place to live.

A big thank you to everyone involved for the kindness and community spirit you bring to our community every day.

Thank you Daniel Wilkins for capturing this moment when out training Kate one of our fantastic new Volunteers ❀️

What a gorgeous day it was on the Mandurah foreshore today! Jenny and Janet had a beautiful morning with some lovely passengers. Melissa, Naomi and Amy all had rides on the wheelchair trishaw whilst their lovely carers all got their steps up following along on foot - thanks ladies! Jenny had lots of passengers including a 4 legged friend Lola, and then her beautiful daughter Sophie and grandson Braxton! Cycling without Age really is for all ages and abilities, and we love sharing the joy! If you’d like a ride with us, please send us a message or send an email to [email protected]
See you soon!

The trailer we used to store Barbara and Rod in has now gone to a new home with the Cycling Without Age Perth Chapter πŸš²πŸ’›

It seemed a shame to have it sitting idle in Mandurah when it could be put to good use up in Perth. Now it can continue to serve a purpose and help bring smiles and great experiences to others 🌞😊

We’re really pleased it’s found a place where it will be appreciated and used well πŸ™ŒπŸš²

Thank you Tim Mcgrath for calling to collect it 😊
