MARABISDA was incorporated in 2009, with the objectives of supporting Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander people and their families' aspirations in their cultural, educational and sporting endeavours. MARABISDA wanted to ensure that our community's uniqueness was recognised through the inclusion of Australian South Sea Islanders within the governance of the organis

🌿 Piccaninny Open Day 🌿

What a beautiful morning celebrating the official opening of the new Piccaninny office on Macalister Street.

Today marked a significant milestone with the opening of North Queensland's first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-focused Family Contact Centre. Piccaninny is dedicated to providing a culturally safe and welcoming space that supports our First Nations community, families, foster carers and children, helping to strengthen connections and nurture positive outcomes for future generations.

We are incredibly proud to see this vision become a reality and thank everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion.

Your hard work, dedication, passion and commitment to the program have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. From the planning and preparation to today's successful launch, your efforts have created a welcoming and culturally safe space that will positively impact the lives of many families, children and carers for years to come.
