🧡 LOOKING OUT FOR OUR MOB 🧡

The rules around e-bikes and e-scooters in Queensland have changed, and we want to help keep our community informed, safe and out of trouble.

If you or someone in your family rides an e-bike or e-scooter, take a moment to learn the new rules around helmets, licences, speed limits, where you can ride, passengers and more. 🪖🚲🛴

We’re sharing this information because looking out for our mob means making sure everyone has the information they need to stay safe and make the right choices.

Know the rules. Ride safe.🧡

✨ What a busy Thursday for Marabisda! ✨

Yesterday our team had the opportunity to be part of two incredible community events across Mackay, and we loved every minute of it! 🧡

🤝🏽 The Yarnz Network | Trading Tracks

We kicked off the morning at Trading Tracks Queensland Yarnz Network, a beautiful morning of networking, connection and celebrating local talent.

A huge congratulations to Justin from Forbidden ONYX on the launch of his Indigenous Jersey Collection! 👏🏽 It was amazing to see Justin’s talent and creativity on display, while celebrating the name he is building for Forbidden Onyx and his commitment to keeping local community connections at the heart of his business.

📚 Picnic in the Gardens | Book Week

Our Badi Yalobaga Yuribaya team then headed along to Picnic in the Gardens at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens for a magical Book Week celebration! 🌿📖

It was so special to spend time with the little ones, see their excitement and build those early connections with children and families. These early years matter. By connecting with families from the beginning, we can help ensure they know that support is available to help their children thrive, build confidence and get the best possible start as they transition into kindy, Prep and beyond. 🌱

We’re proud to be out in and about, building relationships and supporting the people who make our community so strong. 🧡

Women supporting women 💜

We had such a lovely morning at EmpowerHER, catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people and enjoying plenty of good conversation.

It’s always refreshing to step away from the desk and spend time connecting with other women doing great things across our local business and community sectors.

Thank you to the EmpowerHER Collective for having us!

🌟 Four incredible women. One remarkable milestone.

Not one. Not two. Not three... but FOUR incredible women celebrating 10 years of dedicated service on the very same day.💙

Today, we proudly celebrate Sonetta Fewquandie, Frances Seden, Tarita Baggow and Marcella Anson on reaching an incredible milestone of 10 years with Marabisda.

Their journey began in 2010 with the Recognised Entity under the Townsville Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Service. When Marabisda took on the service in 2016, they continued their commitment, growing into the valued roles they hold today and helping shape the organisation into what it is.

For the past decade, these four remarkable women have shown unwavering dedication, compassion and commitment to supporting our community. Through every challenge and every achievement, they have been at the heart of the work we do.

Their knowledge, leadership and passion have made a lasting impact on our organisation, our programs and the countless individuals and families we have had the privilege of supporting. Marabisda would not be where it is today without their hard work and dedication.

Thank you, Sonetta, Frances, Tarita and Marcella, for everything you have contributed over the past 10 years. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Marabisda family and look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.

When community comes together, real change happens. 🤝

What an empowering day at the CASA Together for Shelter Homeless Expo.

It was a privilege to connect with so many organisations that share a common goal of supporting and strengthening our community. Events like these remind us that when we work together, we can create greater opportunities, stronger partnerships and better outcomes for the people we serve.
It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces while also meeting many new ones who are equally passionate about making a difference. The day was filled with meaningful conversations, shared knowledge and a genuine commitment to supporting those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

A big thank you to CASA for bringing everyone together for such a valuable event. We look forward to continuing to work alongside our community partners to make a lasting impact.

Applications will be closing on 30 June 2027. Give them a call on 1800 605 762 and ask for Shannon (far left in photo).
