Deschooling the kids is often the easiest part of the process. Of course, this depends how long they've been at school, and what their experience was like.

But the harder part, is the much longer process of deschooling ourselves, the parents.

Our hourly prices are similar to other options, but our flexibility is what really saves you money.

No ten week term commitment. No losing your money if you're sick one week. No need to commit to full day pricing if you only want a few hours. No need to commit to a term at all, just come along casually whenever it suits you.

We're here to support homeschool families, and yes, it costs us as a small business to offer this level of flexibility, but we hope that the community can see our commitment to long term reliability (we've run every week during terms for nearly 4 years now!)

Another homeschooler living his best life - free of school stress he has been able to flourish in his interests & the world is his oyster now - next stop the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra! I love that he want to show other neurodivergent kids that there are options where they can be accepted & nurtured, not squashed into a framework that doesn't work for them AT ALL and often leaves them feeling worthless.

If you haven't watched this TED Talk by the late, great, Sir Ken Robinson, I highly recommend looking it up on YouTube. And if you ever need something to send family to explain why you're homeschooling, this is a great one.

At The Village Hub, we provide the space, the caring supervision, and the resources, and the kids lead the way. They have invented so many games & creative ways to use what we have onsite.

This reel is a flashback to when the kids invented using the air track (normally used for gymnastics tricks) as a slip and slide, after they sat/slid on it while wet after water play. Since then, it's been a staple at the hub, now we have two air tracks (10+metres of fun), and the kids have all kinds of games they play on them.

I could go on and on about the awesome ways that these kids explore their creativity when given free reign, but Instagram has caption limits, so I'll just say if you're looking for an unschooling friendly space where your kids can flourish & form friendships, grow in confidence & get creative, we'd love to welcome you to The Village Hub family.

We're open through the school term on Thursdays, with a casual session of 10am-1pm and longer bookings are available on a term booking.

When we homeschool, we've left the 'top down' system that says someone up the food chain decides which kid should be learning which topic at which age.

We're free, to make our own schedule, to learn things at our own pace, to believe that our kids are so capable and are able to learn ALL the time, without us pushing them.

But that freedom is also scary, to begin with. We've grown up with the seeming safety of people telling us what to do, how to think, when to turn up.

When we start to take the responsibility ourselves, instead of outsourcing it to others, we set a powerful example for our kids.

When we begin to trust ourselves, our kids see that, and they trust themselves more too.
