NEWS FROM THE HOBART VETERANS HUB - new event for Lindisfarne

Good morning Veterans and family members,

Please see attached the June and July Hobart calendar of events, along with posters for upcoming activities.

I will be taking some leave in mid-June. Toasty Tuesday will still go ahead as planned on Tuesday 9 June, run by our volunteers and staff here at VeteranHub. However, Toasty Tuesday on Tuesday 16 June will not be going ahead.

We also have a new monthly walk followed by a toasty coffee catch-up at Lindisfarne RSL/MYCT. This will take place on the first Friday of every month. All veterans and family members are welcome to attend.

For those members who have not joined Facebook, I have also attached the public link where we post the latest updates and information:

As always if you have any queries or would like to RSVP for any of the activities/events please email [email protected] or email me direct at [email protected]

Who's up for a photo challenge ? ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ“ฑ

We're on the hunt for volunteers to snap the excitement at Meat Raffle night since our go-to Friday night photographer is flying solo to another gig.

Your shots will help us replay the suspense, silliness and jocularity of the two draws - meat trays before ODE and roast trays after.

Share your photos with us via messenger on our page and let's team up to create some more memories - from your perspective.

Just remember - consent must be given by those people/individuals youโ€™re snapping.

It's almost time for FRIDAY NIGHT MEAT NIGHT again, and of course it's raining, still .... Don't let the drizzle dampen your appetite, though - we need the rain, and our regulars need a good kicking, so come on down tomorrow night and try to steal their steak throne.

Yep, they struck again - along with some other lucky folks.

Who remembers these dashing young gentlemen from a recent post.

Well we have an update for you - their particular post received 13,927 views - one of the highest views on our page for a while.

We believe they may have been a little star struck since this post, as last Friday night a couple of them were non shows. A pic was taken of the stayers, however one of the four did a runner before their pic could be taken - we believe the runner is 'Ben Read', Cheers guys

WHAT is an RSL club (Returned and Services League club).

It is a social and community organisation in Australia originally established to support returned military veterans personnel and their families.

Over time it has evolved to support all ADF personnel retired and still serving.

WHAT CAN WE AT THE LINDISFARNE RSL DO FOR YOU

Your local Lindisfarne RSL sub-Branch acts as a vital community hub. It provides veterans and their families with essential welfare support, compensation advocacy, and opportunities for social connection.

We also organise local commemorative services, and help connect you to broader state-level support networks.

Core Services

Welfare & Well-being:
Access emergency financial assistance, crisis support, and referrals for health and housing issues which can be accessed through the Veterans Hub by contacting RSL Tasmania.

Advocacy:
Trained advocates can help you navigate and submit claims for Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) pensions and entitlements.

Camaraderie & Mateship:
Join a supportive community of serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who share similar experiences.

Commemoration:
Coordinate local ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies to honour service personnel.
