Meet Lucy Byrne, one of our keynote speakers for the Primary Health Leadership Conference 2026 in Hobart.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming Lucy to Hobart this October and hearing her perspective on leadership, connection and building stronger teams.

Lucy is an award-winning consultant, facilitator and leadership advisor, and Tasmania’s first Credentialed Professional Facilitator. She works across health, government, community and education, helping people and organisations create positive change through better leadership and workplace culture.

With this year’s theme, Creating Community Through Connection, Lucy’s experience and practical approach will be a wonderful addition to the conversations we’ll be having throughout the conference.

For the past eight weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of supporting Year 12 student Chloe Wright during her Community Services internship with The People Project, in affiliation with Don College.

With a keen interest in health, disability, ageing and community engagement, Chloe has been working on a project designed to connect students with the people and professions shaping these sectors.

Today marked the culmination of eight weeks of planning, with the first Breakfast Club bringing students and industry providers together for an informal conversation about careers, pathways and what it’s really like to work in the sector.

We were thrilled to see such a great turnout, with Alex Dempsey from Tassie Care and Georgia Hanslow from St Michaels joining us to talk with students about working as an NDIS Disability Support Worker and the different pathways into the profession.

The idea is simple: create opportunities for students to meet people working in health, disability and ageing, ask questions and discover career pathways they may not have considered before.

And importantly, the Breakfast Club is student-led. Following today’s session, there is already strong interest in hearing from people working in the aged care sector at next month’s Breakfast Club.

We were proud to support Chloe in bringing the project to life, providing breakfast and helping create connections between students and local providers.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the first Breakfast Club a success, and especially to Chloe for her initiative, enthusiasm and hard work over the past eight weeks.

We’re looking forward to seeing where she takes it next.

What a wonderful day we had in George Town for our final Access in Action community event!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. It was fantastic to see community members come together to connect, ask questions, share experiences, and learn more about the supports and services available within their community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our exhibitors and community partners for generously sharing your time, knowledge, and resources. Your involvement helped create a welcoming, inclusive, and informative space for everyone who attended.

A special thank you to George Town Council for partnering with us and supporting the delivery of this important community event. We truly appreciate your collaboration and commitment to helping connect people with valuable information and services.

We're incredibly proud to share that The People Project Marketing Team has been named a finalist in the Design category at the 2026 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards.

This recognition means so much to us because it reflects a year of creativity, collaboration and building a brand that better represents the people and communities we support across Tasmania.

Over the past year, we've worked alongside Red Jelly to rebrand The People Project and bring that new identity to life across our Primary Health, Disability Services, Aged Care and Community Innovation teams. From our website and events to campaigns, resources and everyday communications, every project has been created with people at the centre.

To be recognised among a record 140 award applications is a real honour. We're grateful to everyone who has supported our journey, including our colleagues, partners and the communities who trust us every day.

Congratulations to all the other finalists, and thank you to the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and CareSuper for recognising businesses that are making a positive impact across Northern Tasmania.
