See Through My Eyes began as a humble, anonymous blog in 2010 when Founder, Chrissy, was diagnosed with Stargardt’s Disease - a degenerative eye condition that would ultimately result in blindness. Unable to find any forums for people of her own age with vision impairments (most being geared towards children or the elderly), she used her blog as a platform to express her feelings about her conditi
on and to connect with other young adults around the world who shared a similar experience. She also used her knowledge of science to navigate through the research being conducted and sharing this in a way others could easily understand. In 2015, after numerous frustrating and disabling experiences with universities and workplaces, Chrissy decided more needed to be done to empower and encourage people who are vision impaired or blind to fulfill their dreams and achieve their goals. In her own words, “despite having a vision impairment, we can still reach our goals. We may have to take a different path to get there, but we will always succeed.”
