WHY SMALL MATTERS | WEEK 2
A Hello Ability Day Hub Series.

🌱 SMALLER GROUPS. MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW.

At Hello Ability, our Camden and Picton Day Hubs are intentionally kept small.

And there's an important reason why.

When there are fewer people in the group, our team has more opportunities to work alongside each participant on the skills that matter in their everyday life.

🥗 Preparing their own lunch
💰 Handling money & making purchases
🚌 Travelling safely in the community
💬 Building communication skills
🙋 Making choices
🤝 Developing friendships
💙 Building emotional regulation skills
🏠 Developing household skills
🌱 Volunteering & work-readiness
❤️ Health & wellbeing
🌏 Accessing ordinary community activities

These might look like everyday things.

But everyday experiences create opportunities to build skills, confidence and independence.

Our goal isn't to have the biggest Day Hub.

It's to create an environment where we can see each person, recognise their abilities and provide genuine opportunities to learn, participate, connect and grow.

Because being part of a Day Hub should be about more than simply attending.

🌱 It should be about achieving meaningful outcomes.

WHY SMALL MATTERS
A Hello Ability Day Hub Series.

✨More than just a number.

At Hello Ability, our Day Hubs in Camden and Picton are intentionally kept small.

Bigger isn't always better, and we believe small groups allows us to deliver something incredibly important…

🩷Real connection.🩷

When there are fewer people in the room, our team has the time to truly get to know each participant - their personality, interests, communication style, goals and the little things that make them who they are.

🌟We notice when someone isn't themselves.
🌟We celebrate the small wins.
🌟We adapt the day when someone needs something different.

That's difficult to achieve when people become just another face in a crowd.

Our goal has always been quality over quaitity and to create a place where every person feels known, valued and genuinely belongs.

🌷Because everyone deserves to be seen.

See the person. Recognise the ability.

First Nations people seeking NDIS help can now call a new phone line, established to provide a more culturally respectful, tailored experience with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

The new service forms part of the Agency’s broader commitment to supporting national priorities including Closing the Gap and the recommendations of the Disability Royal Commission.

For FPDN, this dedicated line is an important step towards breaking down systemic barriers and communication gaps for First Nations people. This initiative supports FPDN’s mission of ensuring mob with disability receive the respect and trust to navigate the system effectively.

💜 We’re proud to share this story about Jo, a valued member of the Hello Ability family.

In June 2024, Jo’s life changed in an instant. What began as severe headaches and neck pain quickly became a medical emergency, leading to multiple strokes and a brain injury. Jo was later diagnosed with Central Nervous System Vasculitis (CNSV), an extremely rare autoimmune disease.

Despite everything she has faced, Jo continues to show incredible courage, determination and resilience every day.

Thank you to WIN News for helping share Jo’s story. Now, we’d love to help spread the word even further. Jo has the opportunity to access specialist treatment in America, and we are hoping our community can get behind her and help make that possible.

Every share, donation and message of support makes a difference. Let's help get Jo to America for the treatment she needs and give her every opportunity to continue her fight. 💜

Jo is a valued participant of Hello Ability, and in June 2024, her life- and the lives of her family- changed in an instant.
What started as severe headaches and neck pain quickly became a medical emergency, leaving Jo unable to recognise even her own name. She was later diagnosed with Central Nervous System Vasculitis (CNSV), an extremely rare autoimmune disease, after suffering multiple strokes and brain injury.
Since then, Jo has faced an incredibly tough journey. She has undergone chemotherapy, ongoing infusions, and countless medical tests-all while relearning how to walk and speak.
And through it all, she continues to show up for her children and push forward with strength and determination.
There is currently no cure for CNSV, and due to its rarity, treatment options in Australia are limited. Jo has now been given the opportunity to access a world-leading specialist program in the United States that could provide life-changing care.
To get there, she needs to raise $20,000 to cover essential medical and travel costs. Her family has already made significant sacrifices, but they can’t do this alone.
If you’re able to support Jo-whether by donating or simply sharing this post-it would mean so much. Every bit of support helps give Jo the best possible chance at continued care, recovery, and time with her family ❤️
Her go fund me information can be found on her page with raffle tickets information below.
