It is Wednesday my DUDES 🐸

Which means KPL is around the corner!

This LAN we're going to be running a board game tournament, please let the Admin team know if you'd like to participate. There winner will receive a prize, unfortunately it's not a taco.

The game in question is Luchador!

The fast-rolling, hard-hitting, body-slamming, neck-crunching, chair-smashing, table-slapping dice game for 2 or 4 players...

Luchador! Mexican Wrestling Dice is a two-player dice game (with optional rules for four-player tag-team play) based on the popular world of professional Mexican wrestling, or "Lucha Libre" (a.k.a. free fighting). Players start with 21 points of health (or 18 in a tag-team match) and roll custom dice to try to either reduce the opponent's strength points to zero to win by a knock-out (KO) or hold the opponent down on the mat for a "count of three" to win by a pin.

The player sitting near the 'red' corner of the wrestling ring uses 4 'red' wrestling dice, the player near the 'blue' corner, the 4 blue wrestling dice.
Each player also has a HIT die and a PIN die.

Players begin by each rolling their own set of 'wrestling dice' at the same time, trying to ensure that they land in, or touching the wrestling ring.
The results of HITs, BLOCKs, COUNTERs, and MISS rolled are played off against each other then the HIT dice can be rolled to see what damage they did. i.e Drop Kick, Forearm smash, Table slam etc. Damage is recorded on the Strength Score Card of the player being hit.
If a player rolls two HITs in one round, instead of rolling the HIT dice twice, they can take a chance on the Luchador! die once which may result in their wrestler's trademark moves and inflict much more damage on their opponent.

Any PINs rolled in a round may be re-rolled, once only. However once an opponent is reduced on their strength to where they are pinable, the PIN die is held until after the HITs have been inflicted then the PIN die is rolled. If PIN comes up, the 'three count' begins. The player being pinned has three attempts to save, using their wrestling dice or lose the match.

In a tag-team match players have the choice of trying to tag-out to regain slight strength, but it can also cost them..., if they fail to tag and get dragged back into the ring by their eager opponent.

TLDR:
This will be run as a free for all for up to 6 players with the winner moving onto the following rounds until an overall champion is decided.

MARIO KART 8 TOURNAMENT AT KPL!

Check it out, y'all! We've got MARIO KART 8 on the spotlight this Winter Session!

How this will work;
• Competitors will be pitted against each other by running through 4 races.
• From there, the top ranked players will then be selected out of the group and thrown into an 8-course Grand Prix

Winner of the Grand Prix earns our Mario Kart 8 Prize!

⚠️⚠️SUPER SMASH BROS: ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT ⚠️⚠️

What's going on KPLayers!

For your chance to earn yourself a new set of Switch Joycons, we're hosting a Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate Tournament! It's a winner takes all tournament in a double elimination format.

We will have our own designated switch and joycons for everyone to use to keep it on an even playing field.

For those unaware, Double Elimination rounds mean after your first loss, you have an opportunity to return as an underdog and grind your way back to the finals for a second chance at a new set of joycons.

Similarly, if joycons aren't your thing, there are alternate rewards in the event that you don't own a Switch. We have Steam Game Keys to give away as alternatives! (Where there's a will, there's a way!)

So brush up on your combos and cheese methods, warm up your Smash Bros Spirit! Get ready for a Smashing good time!

⚠️⚠️ENTRY FEE UPDATE ⚠️⚠️
G'day KPLayers! Important announcement regarding entry fees!

Due to the increase in costs, we've had to make the unfortunate decision to increase entry fees to our LAN sessions to cover.

Entry level costs are now at $15 minimum to cover for half a pizza for dinner. $20 dollars will give you a full pizza to yourself. Drinks are still available to both payment options.

Please keep this in mind for our next LAN session for Autumn on the 8th of April (next week)!

Mondayitis giving you the blues? Need a reminder for events to come? Here's something to look forward to at our Autumn session!

TEAM FORTRESS 2 TOURNAMENT DETAILS!

For our Autumn LAN, we'll be hosting a Team Fortress 2 Tournament!

How this works:
• Participants are randomly placed into two initial teams and must duke it out for the match!
• At the end of the match, lowest scoring players are eliminated and a new match begins.
• Dependant on performance throughout the matches, participants may be requested to switch teams or reshuffle.
• New match begins and will repeat until final 1v1 match!

PRIZE:
A choice between one of three in this pool:
• Humble Bundle Pack
• Steam Wallet Card
• RGB Mousepad

Check it out KPLayers! A new year is among us and it's time for our 2k23 DATE DROP!

Our first session kicks off for Autumn on April 8th. The temperature drops but the heat doesn't with TWO TOURNAMENTS PLANNED! Keep your eyes on this space for those details!

Secondly, competition could get ice cold as the next session in the line up is for Winter on July 8th. Keep your eyes peeled!

Spring into action for our third session on the 30th of September.

Finally, as red hot as the heat can get in Sydney, our final session for the year will be the 30th of December!

These are your dates, everyone! Mark them in your calendars and watch out for event invites soon! Expect tournaments, competitions, staff updates and activities happening this year; details to come as the year goes by~
