Last week was a big week for Team Sisters!
It started off on Tuesday with a visit to the Garfield & Bunyip Probus Club. We gave a long talk about why Team Sisters are so dedicated to raising money and creating awareness of eye health in the community. We also showed the video made about Geographic Atrophy and our family. We had a long question time which was a lot of fun and then we sold some raffle tickets. There was over 100 people in attendance, they all learnt something and had a great afternoon.
After we enjoyed our soup and sandwiches, we were presented with a donation of $1905. Team Sisters went home feeling very humbled and appreciative of the day but also a very full belly.

On Friday, Sharon went to meet up with Karl & Trish Henderson from the Bairnsdale Lions Club with Karl also being the Lions Ride for Sight Chairman 201v3 Lions Ride for Sight . They met at Traralgon to pick up 3 sold raffle books and have a really nice lunch at the Butter Factory. Then Sharon walked the Streets of Traralgon & sold another book of tickets to some of the shops owners before coming home.
This weekend we have been working on the Team Sisters Eye Health Night next Thursday in Inverloch. Making sure the night will run smoothly and everyone will have a great time but more importantly learn something from the 3 speakers.

There is still time to buy raffle tickets before its drawn next Thursday. Cheap at $2 a ticket or $200 for a book of tickets.

Contact Shazza Willmott, Leesa Willmott or Kerry Fitzgerald and we can arrange your purchase for you. All money raised goes to the Centre for Eye Research Australia .

Thank you so much to our sponsors because without them the raffle would not be possible. TEMPUR, SG Off Road, Hentley Farm, Harvey Norman & Evans Petroleum Gippsland

Also thank you very much to the rest of Team Sisters sponsors Yulong Investments, Elders Limited, Community Bank Inverloch & District, Bass Coast Embroidery & Printing.

The raisely link is still open till the end of May, so if you would like to donate money to the Centre for Eye Research Australia or need a tax deduction. Please use the link.

Ride wrap up for Team Sisters Riding for Sight. Shazza Willmott, Leesa Willmott & Kerry Fitzgerald.

Day 2. With a heavy dew in Churchill over night and misty rain at times made riding a little tricky as we headed towards Mirboo for morning tea. Our next challenge was the huge hill just out of Dumbalk on our way to Leongatha for lunch. After a yummy lunch of soup and a salad roll we rode to our destination of Inverloch. A hard day's ride with 110km and an elevation of 1095 metres.
We camped at the Lions Den & Scout Shed in the recreation reserve. After an amazing dinner provided by the Inverloch Lions a speech from Samantha Razzell from the 201v3 Lions Ride for Sight main sponsor Apellis, we were in bed early.

Day 3. We all woke feeling abit second rate this morning. After a hardy breakfast we rode our bikes around the coast road going through Wonthaggi and ended up at the Desalination Plant car park picnic area for morning tea. A big thank you to Belinda Slattery for bringing Mum and Dad out to meet all the riders and have a cuppa and cheer us on. We rode to Archies Creek, then up the Gorge Road and headed to Kernot for lunch. Back on our bikes after a quick lunch stop and through the misty rain we finally made it to Loch. We only rode 79kms today but it felt like 179kms Team Sisters were buggered.
Saturday night we were joined by 2 new riders including Prof Keith Martin, managing director for Centre for Eye Research Australia . After our nightly fines session for all misdemeanours from anyone on the ride, we had an auction where we raised $2464. Great night at Loch Hall.

Day 4. OMG our muscles didn't want to work and we were abit slower leaving this morning. In a thick fog we headed to Nyora and then onto Lang Lang where we stopped to regroup. Upon leaving Leesa's front wheel hit Kerry's back wheel and Leesa gracefully fell off her bike🤕. She grazed her elbow, hurt her already bad shoulder, hurt the end of her little finger and gained a few bruises down her right leg. The biggest thing hurt was her pride but Leesa is tough and will be ok❤️
We rode to Catani for morning tea and then headed to the finish line at Longwarry. Where we were met by a very enthusiastic crowd of friends, supporters, sponsors and CERA staff. Mary Aldred MP sitting member for Monash was also in attendance. After some group photos and and other photos were taken, Mary gave a speech thanking the riders for their participation and support in raising money for CERA. Prof Keith Martin also spoke about the work undertaken at CERA and how they are in the top 5 leading eye research facilities in the world. He made a big point about the partnership between CERA and the Lions and how this ride is an integral part of their fund raising. Day 4 was 51kms with an elevation of 215 metres.

There is still time to donate. Please click on the link below we would really like to reach our goal of $15,000.

Without the support from our wonderful sponsors we can not raise as much money as we do. So a very big thank you to TEMPUR, Yulong Investments, Elders Limited, Harvey Norman, Community Bank Inverloch & District, SG Off Road, Hentley Farm, Bass Coast Embroidery & Printing & Evans Petroleum Gippsland.

A huge thank you for putting up with us over the last month and in particular the last 4 days to our support crew Kevin Oates, Peter Fitzgerald & Paul Reiter.

Lastly, thank you so much to all those people who have donated money to this great cause❤️❤️❤️🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴

The day finally arrived 32nd Lions Ride for Sight, Team Sisters were up bright eyed and bushy tailed.
A huge thank you to John Haddock and Dale from Tempur Nunawading who made the trek to Longwarry early this morning. We were all very grateful they made the effort to set up their Tempur Tent and presentation, we thank you for your Sponsorship Tempur. Leaving Longwarry around 8:30 this morning. We were led into a false sense of security with a flat road. Soon after that all changed with a total elevation today of 1000 mtrs.
On our way to Yarragon for lunch some of us missed a fallen sign, actually 15 of us, rode straight past. We ended up clocking up an extra 8 kms, OOPS like we needed it. Finally caught up with the rest of the crew and made our way to our lunch stop.
A lovely lunch had at Yarragon next stop Moe for a fantastic afternoon tea. The scones and muffins were yummo. Even managed a cheeky selfie with some local paramedics. We were glad that we didn’t need their assistance.
All 28 of us made it to Churchill’s Gaskin park stadium around 4.00pm.
All extremely glad to be off that bike seat.
Today’s Total kms 98 kms, Ave speed just over 20 kms p/h, fastest speed 60 km p/h and total elevation just over 1000 kms. Day one done and dusted.
Thanks Kevin Oates for being our support crew.

Huge thanks to our sponsors
