Tank FM Radio Kempsey Community Radio Station This is the official page of Kempsey's only radio station - 103.1 Tank FM.

The studio and office is located in West Kempsey, NSW Australia. Macleay Valley Community FM Radio Station Incorporated, to use our official name, was spawned at a public meeting held in 1992. From this meeting emerged a dedicated team that forged forward towards the ultimate goal of obtaining a Community Broadcasting license for the Macleay Valley. The next five years leading up to our first test transmission in March 1997 meant a lot of hard work and dedication for the tireless volunteers who had to sell the idea of the valley's own radio station to the community, and raise much needed money to finance the proposal. A series of test transmissions over the next two years proved fruitful when the station was granted a Community Broadcasting license in 1999. Although licensed as 2WET, the station is known locally as Tank FM because the studio complex was initially housed in a disused concrete water reservoir, some 40 feet in diameter, in Rudder Park, overlooking the Macleay River and the township of Kempsey on the mid north coast of New South Wales, Australia. Kempsey is a rural town located on the magnificent Macleay River, around halfway between Sydney and Brisbane.

Farm Recovery Event – Kempsey, NSW 📅 18–23 October 2026

Farming communities know resilience. But resilience shouldn't mean doing it alone.

Across the Kempsey region, repeated floods, storms and prolonged wet weather have taken their toll, leaving many farming families with significant clean-up and recovery work still ahead of them.

From 18 to 23 October, the Rural Aid team and volunteers will be working side-by-side with local farmers, helping restore damaged infrastructure and supporting the ongoing recovery effort.

It's practical support, meaningful conversations and a reminder that when times are tough, communities can come together to help carry the load.

Kempsey Shire Council is inviting people to attend an upcoming
information session on the Upper Macleay Flood Study.

Session Details
Date: Friday 16 October 2026
Time: 1.00 to 3.00pm
Venue: Community Hall, Willawarrin - 22 Armidale Rd, Willawarrin

The session will provide an overview of the completed study, including how it was undertaken, the information collected and analysed, and the flood behaviour identified across the Upper Macleay study area.

The study area includes the Macleay River and tributaries extending from the Armidale Road/Five Day Creek area near Comara downstream towards Kempsey.

This session will explain the purpose and outcomes of the Upper Macleay Flood Study and how flood modelling and mapping were undertaken. You can ask Council staff and consultants involved in the project questions and learn about the next steps in the floodplain management process.

The Council is currently in the Flood Study stage of the Flood Risk Management Process for the Upper Macleay and is seeking local knowledge and personal experiences of flooding.

This project addresses the existing and future flood problems within the Upper Macleay River catchment.

Nearly every local pub has a burger on the menu, so to earn the title of NSW’s number one bun you need something really special.

After weeks of secret taste-testing by independent judges, the 15 finalists in one of the most popular categories in the AHA NSW Awards for Excellence have been announced.

The judges chomped down the long list of 80 hopefuls to just 15 burgers made in pub kitchens from Old Bar to Oran Park.

The Best Burger short-list includes The Full Monty, the Double Brisket Burger, the Bluff Burger, The Gossy Burger, and the CCH Chicken Super Sandwich.

The winner will be named at a gala ceremony on Tuesday, 27 October 2026 at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.

AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said the Best Burger has become one of the most popular parts of the annual awards - and judges have their work cut out for them.

“Travelling the state, visiting great locals and eating the best burgers they have to offer seems like a dream job until you have to try and narrow down the list down to just one winner,” said Mr Whelan.

“Best of luck to all the finalists - and if one of the 15 pubs is your local, get down there and sample one of these great burgers for yourself.”
