🚒 Community Invitation: CFA Blessing of the Fleet 🚒
Join us for a special evening as the Nillumbik Group of CFA Fire Brigades hosts our annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony.

Fire Services have a long tradition of an annual blessing of the fleet to pray for the safety of emergency crews and the protection of their firefighting vehicles and equipment ahead of the high-risk fire season
This community event is a wonderful opportunity to support our local volunteer firefighters, see the emergency vehicles up close, and come together as a community before the upcoming fire season. Everyone is welcome!
📅 When: Thursday, 10th September
⏰ Time: 5:30 PM
📍 Where: Kangaroo Ground Hall - on Ness lane

Bring your family, meet your local CFA volunteers, and show your support for the teams that work year-round to keep our community safe.
We look forward to seeing you there!

A reminder about tomorrows AusAlert National test.

A reminder about tomorrows AusAlert National test.

The national test of AusAlert is happening on Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST. 📅

AusAlert sends near-instant emergency messages to compatible mobile devices like mobile phones, tablets and smart watches. It uses vibration, sound and on-screen messages to get your attention.

If your device receives the national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds before stopping. As the national test is a Critical Alert, this happens even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

You may receive this test while driving, riding or using public transport. 🛻

If you are driving or riding, stay calm and don’t touch your device. ⚠️

The alert may also play through your vehicle’s speakers using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or Bluetooth and may interrupt navigation or media like music or podcasts. 📱

🚨Mobile phone laws still apply – don't read or respond to the alert while operating a vehicle. Only check the message when your vehicle is turned off and it is safe and legal to do so.

🚌 If you receive an alert while on public transport, stay calm. Don't approach the driver about the alert.

This is just a test, and you do not need to do anything. You should always follow instructions or announcements from public transport staff.

Happy Easter from the KG brigade!

Long weekends like these are great for getting jobs done around the yard, but it’s always important to make sure you have the safety equipment on you when operating machinery!

Luckily for this resident whose tractor caught fire, the grass was already cut short, meaning the threat of flame impacting anywhere else was very low.

🚒 We were proud to be out collecting for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal! 🏥
Our amazing volunteers, joined by supportive family members, hit the streets with big hearts — and thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised a fantastic $5,023!
Every dollar truly makes a difference, and we couldn’t have done it without our wonderful community.
Thank you to everyone who donated and showed support! ❤️

International Women’s Day
Over the years Kangaroo Ground CFA has been fortunate/blessed by the contribution of many women to this Brigade and our Community. On this day, International Women’s Day, we would like to recognize and acknowledge them and thank them for their efforts.

The diversity of roles taken on has been amazing spanning Operational Roles (including leadership positions), Brigade Management Roles, training and instruction, communications, health and safety, Incident Management positions in Incident Control Centres, our strong Friends group that provide amazing support to our members, and not least our partners/spouses that are the backbone of our capability.

From all of us - thank you
