Marmion Sorrento Duncraig Progress and Ratepayers Association Inc The Association's objectives include protection and promotion of our suburbs' natural environment Associations OBJECTIVES:
1. Remain non-profit and apolitical.

To act as a representative Association for the residents and ratepayers of the Marmion, Sorrento and Duncraig suburbs in dealings with other parties.
2. To uphold the interests and rights of the residents and ratepayers of these suburbs.
3. To liaise with the City of Joondalup on the concerns and issues of the residents and ratepayers of these suburbs.
4. To advocate for better amenities in

these suburbs.
5. To protect the natural bushland and environment of the these suburbs.
6. To ensure the current greening of developed areas is protected and promoted.

Yes, I know! Another petition!

But petitions are a cornerstone for how ratepayers actually get heard by local government.

And I’m getting behind this one because while the City absolutely needs to control its budget and some tough calls will be required, cutting library hours at Duncraig, Whitford and Woodvale is a poor choice.

Experienced librarian Sue North made this clear in her deputation to Council this week: better savings can be found by rethinking library operations without directly hurting the community services people rely on most.

Sure we need budgetary discipline. We don't need poorly thought-through cuts to services people use and depend upon.

As a ratepayer Association we expect our local government authority to undertake thorough risk assessment analysis on all its financial decision-making processes / projects, to ensure VALUE for money outcomes are maximised while, debt is minimised, especially when determining differential rates for future year's budgets.
