I've held off posting this photo reputedly of the morning after the Hindmarsh Hotel fire in 1928. There are a couple of 'anomalies' I've spent some time wrestling with; one or two things don't quite 'gel', especially the large Machinery, Timber and Ironyard building at the rear. Gotta love a riddle! Nevertheless, I'll post it as it may generate some discussion. While the hotel was a weatherboard building, there was a huge complex of iron buildings at the rear, hence the large amount of iron among the debris. (I have produced an AI version of this image and the clarity is striking but, for now, I'll post only the original.) For good measure I'll add a photo of the Hindmarsh Hotel a year or so before the fire.

Two photos - undated - from atop the silo. In the photo looking across Broadway, the eagle-eyed will notice the School, the World War 1 monument flanked by the original Memorial Avenue plantation, the old hospital, Stafford's garage, the Post Office on the corner of Broadway and John Streets and, at bottom, the roof of the Broadway Garage. The second photo gives a good view of the Railway Station platform; note the gates at the end of John Street leading into the railway yards.
