Rab Thynne

Yesterday we had the pleasure of awarding the Shed Legend Award to Rab Thynne. He joined us about 18 months ago and what a journey it has been. He started off with the 3D printing and Laser cutting. Then quickly took over the IT to push us to the cloud (we are still working out what that means).

This was followed by pushing for higher standards in the workshop. He partnered with the old workshop manager Paul and between the two of them rebuilt the standards of the Workshop.

Then there was the charity work. He has a love for supporting the elderly and more specifically the financially distressed. We have posted on this before but he just gets out and helps them where they need it and never asks for thanks.

So to Rab we raise our glasses to you. Thankyou for choosing Indooroopilly Men's Shed to bring your happiness and help.

Oh before I forget, he did say "if I knew I was getting an award, i would have got a hair cut"

Another busy day at the shed. Doug had the day out at Bunnings to make some good cash for the till. A long day from 7 til 4 and planning time as well. Great work Doug and the crew that supported them.

We were told by the Bunnings Staff the sausages were excellent!

Also a big thanks to the guys who did the parking for the Game last night. Its not easy to stand out in the cold but the return helps everyone in the shed. Thankyou.

On Wednesday the bike group were busy as normal. Sanding, polishing, grinding. It ofton gets forgotten that the Mens shed are not just a place for men to hang out but more a service to the community. Here we have Members Jim, Forbes, Gary, Peter, Steve and Harry turning up to be with there mates, but more helping young children gain access to bikes. In the photos is a worn out BMX that is being refurbished for a young member in the community.

Its time to say thanks to the boys for everything they do. You dont ask for thanks and just get on with it. Thankyou!

Well before its gets busy we thought it a good time to introduce the man behind Indooroopilly Men's Shed. President Peter Murrell. Every day he is down at the shed before it opens, working though the big ticket items. He is kind, generous and does it all with little reward. The shed is so lucky to have him lead the committee and its members.

You will find him maning the pop up desk near Woolies a Indro shopping town at the end of the month, so stay tuned for an update on that. Take a moment to say hi if you see him.

Here is Peter with his little friend Blossom.

Thankyou Peter for everything you do and keeping the shed afloat!

Well Indro Shed seems to be becoming a 3D powerhouse. More EScooter parts. Check out this custom rear fender being modelled. Done in cheap Pla first to check for fit and then Black Abs to bring strength to the part.

Its just amazing what can be made with 3D printers.

A busy week with a few projects wrapping up. Thisnone from Shed Member Craig.

Shelves custom-built to fit behind the toilet door
— finally putting that unused void - 125mm deep - to good use!

We even had the perfect
width lengths of donated 50-
year-old colonial merbau in
the Men’s Shed woodstack.
It was cut and fabricated so
precisely, it just clipped into
the space.
No fixing screws required.

Great work Craig.
