The Burrgadi Outdoor Industry Development Program is well underway with over 25 participants from Bowraville, Macksville, Valla, Nambucca Heads and surrounding communities now registered and progressing through the program. To date there are 20 community members that have been trained in Basic Fire Fighting, 24 trained in Chem Cert, 17 trained in First Aid and CPR, 19 trained in 4wd and 4wd Recovery, 11 trained in Venomous Snake Catch and Release, 23 trained in Excavator and Skid Steer Operations, 14 trained in Working at Heights, 13 trained in Elevated Work Platform, and 6 trained in Confined Spaces.
In addition to the training, work experience has commenced with 5 days of Hazard Reduction Burning to private properties in the local area via traditional mosaic methods.
Special thanks to Bowraville Local Aboriginal Land Council for all your support in helping to prepare and enable the delivery of this program and for providing the training venue, and an additional thanks to Yurruungga Aboriginal Corporation for your support and providing your Cat 1 and Operator for the fire training.
We are now looking for additional sites to perform the following works; excavations (stump/shrub removals, drainage improvement works etc), rural fencing, exotic tree removals or tree pruning works, trail maintenance works, slope stability and/or revegetation works, treatment of invasive w**ds, pest trapping, and snake relocations.
