Low tide, blue skies, bright sunshine and no wind. Perfect conditions again for our Sunday morning winter swimming races on this shortest day of the year.

The water temperature was 16 degrees C, so getting towards the coldest we usually see over winter here at Jervis Bay.

The handicappers are doing a marvellous job. Most of today’s races had very exciting finishes.

Well done to the finalists of the day: Sandi, Lani, Benny and Julie and then Seana, Marg and Brian.

Drying off and warming up is easy on a lovely warm day like today.

Thanks to all our volunteers, timekeepers, judges, starters, handicappers, race entry organisers and everyone who sets up and tidies up.

A little bit of rain did not deter the Wobbegongs this Sunday! We had seven heats for the 50 metres freestyle, 25 metre freestyle and the 25 metre mixed races, and the two finals.

The sea temperature was a balmy 17.1 C. It's the o.1 that makes all the difference.

Conditions in the water were just perfect, flat calm and no wind. Just a bit of light drizzle to keep us on our toes. And no sunshine to warm up in afterwards.

Lots of handicaps were bust with such good swimming conditions. Well done to everyone.

Mugs of steaming soup and hunks of bread were the ideal post-swim sustenance, welcoming warming. Thanks to all the soup makers, and bringers of bread!

Thanks to the starters, judges and timekeepers whose concentration and consistency on the beach are very much appreciated.

What perfect weather and sea conditions for our Sunday winter swimming races.

The sea didn’t even feel too cold.

Our handicaps are working well with lits of close finishes!

A BBQ afterwards was much appreciated and we were delighted to sing Happy Birthday to two members and to enjoy some fabulous birthday cake.

A Wobbies Sunday to remember. Big thanks to all the hard working volunteers!!

Over the past week I have taken a couple of photos down on our beach just prior to our morning dip. Our early morning swimmers are Kym, Ronnie and Ron's faithful dog Jess. Every morning is different, always looking forward to the view from the top of the stairs out over the beach, wondering what the colours will be, is there a good sunrise, cloudy, clear, dark, vivid oranges, pinks or blue. And the skies and colours often will dramatically change over the course of our swim, normally around 40 minutes or so in the water, the water colour changes, the clouds changing, multiplying or dispersing, the sea changes with the wind. I think we're very lucky to enjoy this early morning time.

Another lovely morning for our Sunday races, the water lovely and clear, temperature still around 19degC. We had 29 people racing and recording some quickish times. Not sure if we're getting faster but quite a few broke their handicap time. Kym leading the way with consistency, always swimming to his handicap. Again a huge thanks to those who help out with the morning, we really appreciate your time, the starters, Judge, timekeeping crew and result recording.
And remember, we're at the beach every morning, summer and winter, around 7am for a swim. Anyone welcome to join us.

Our 4th Sunday race day, the water still a very mild 19 degC with quite a swell greeting our swimmers, most choosing too swim on the outside of the lane rope, not wanting to be swept up onto the beach. We had 6 heats in each of the 3 events, 25 swimmers. The 50 metre final a close event, the swell adding to the interest along with some lane swapping, near collisions, running into the lane rope, Jo-Anne the eventual winner. A few new faces in the final, well done Jack and welcome to David. Despite the rolling conditions we had some reasonable times recorded, close to handicap times, well done to all. Hoping for a little less well next Sunday, the last day of Autumn.

What a fantastic day we had for our second Sunday of winter swimming races at Huskisson Beach. The sea was calm (if not as warm as last week) and the sunshine was warm, glorious blue skies and no wind on the beach. Heaven.

Lots of photos were taken and here they all are!

Big thanks to all the volunteers and well done to the social committee who put on a fantastic BBQ with delicious sweet treats too. A Mothers Day swimming celebration to remember!

Next Sunday we have the Sea Eels visiting from Coledale. Let's hope the weather is as good as it was today.
