Ready to get on the road?

Join our Road Safety for New Arrivals training at Horsham Neighbourhood House on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June.

This free program helps migrant community members understand Australian road rules, stay safe on our roads, and work towards obtaining a Victorian driver licence. Whether you're a complete beginner or hold a learner permit, international license or full Australian license, everyone is welcome and guaranteed to learn something new.

For those needing support to prepare for their Learner Permit Test, additional sessions will be held at Horsham Neighbourhood House on weeknights from 5:30–7:00pm between 9 and 18 June.

Participants with their Learner Permit can access two free driving lessons, with additional support available for some vulnerable community members through the WSMD Driver Assistance Program.

This weekend, 30 new arrivals and established members of Nhill’s Karen community attended Road Safety for New Arrivals training at Nhill Learning Centre.

Together, we explored how drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and passengers can all help make our roads safer and reduce road trauma in our community.

A huge thank you to Victoria Police — especially Hamish, Matt and Eric — for generously sharing their time and expertise. These conversations not only build road safety knowledge but also trust, connection and mutual understanding.

And a special thank you to Thablay for co-facilitating and interpreting across the two days. Your support helps make this training possible 🙂
