That’s a wrap on our Peer Mentorship Program! đŸ§đŸ©”

Our final session brought together AYC members from Hobart and Punta Arenas for one last opportunity to (formally) connect, practice English and Spanish and reflect on the friendships and connections built throughout the program.

Over the past months, participants have shared stories, explored life in our gateway cities, strengthened cross-cultural understanding, and discussed the important role young people play in fostering Antarctic connections across continents.

This final exchange was a wonderful celebration of collaboration, curiosity, and community within the AYC network.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the program such a success. We’re excited to see these connections continue long after the sessions have ended!

A fantastic opportunity to connect with our friends in Punta Arenas today! đŸ§đŸ©”

We came together to practice our Spanish skills, share insights into the AYC across continents and explore opportunities for mentorship along the way.

As a group we discussed what being a part of the AYC means to each of us and how important each of our cities is in connecting Antarctica and amplifying the voices of young people as multicultural points of connection within our global community.

We’d love to see you at our next meeting in May. Reach out to get involved!

On Saturday we visited the Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum and had a private storytelling afternoon with one of the amazing volunteers, Pete. We not only learned about Mawson and the men of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, but also explored the wider story of Australian Antarctic history and why it still matters for the future.

A special thank you to the Mawson’s Huts Foundation, the organisation dedicated to conserving and protecting the original huts at Cape Denison in Antarctica. Through their conservation work, research, and education programs, they ensure that this extraordinary chapter of Antarctic history is preserved for future generations.

We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and the passion for sharing these stories. 💙

On Monday, some of our AYC Hobart members attended the Lord Mayor’s Lunch.

It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with the Lord Mayor and discuss Hobart’s important role as a gateway city to Antarctica. The group also had a chance to share what’s next for AYC as we continue building momentum.

Stay tuned for more exciting steps ahead and reach out to get involved in 2026! 🙌
