A dance that was once banned... is now taking over a church in North Hobart.

Curious?

There was a time when Tango was considered too passionate, too intimate, too daring for polite society. In some places, it was even banned.

Fast forward to today... and we're dancing it in a church.

This Saturday night, as Hobart embraces the magic, mystery and red glow of midwinter, we're inviting locals, visitors, travellers and anyone curious about Tango to join us for a special Mid Month Milonga at Gibson Hall, North Hobart.

Whether you're a seasoned tanguero, taking your first steps, or simply looking for something unique to do on a winter night in Hobart, this is your invitation.

Hobart Social Tango is excited to announce Salomon-Plaza Duo is joining us at our April Tango Weekend Gala Milonga on April 25. Salomon-Plaza Duo from Argentina had their Tasmanian debut at Latin Market VIVO held at Kingston recently (an event by Salsita Events). This young guitar duo will perform at our milonga for us to dance to their live music. It will be additional flavour to the night on top of a great selection of music provided by the DJ Nadim. We have Rina and Nadim’s dance performance during the night as well. There will be full of excitement!

Well done, everybody. The masquerade last night was a success. Many people were unrecognisable. We had a great collection of intriguing masked faces. There was a bit of problem with one of them: unsure which set of eyes to give a mirada!
