STATEMENT ON THE BONDI JUNCTION TRAGEDY

The Somali Elders Group in Victoria expresses profound sorrow and shock at the tragic events that took place at Bondi Junction. This act of violence has caused immeasurable pain, claiming innocent lives and leaving many others injured and traumatised.

We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving, recovering, or struggling in the aftermath of this devastating incident.

Such violence is unacceptable and has no place in our communities. It goes against the principles of peace, respect, and care for human life that we uphold as elders and community leaders. The Somali Elders Group in Victoria firmly rejects all forms of violence and remains committed to promoting understanding, unity, and the wellbeing of all members of society.

In this time of mourning, we stand together with the people of New South Wales and with all Australians. We acknowledge the courage, compassion, and professionalism shown by emergency services, healthcare workers, and ordinary citizens who responded during this crisis.
