A GDG update from Mark Lloyd Riddell.

A wee bit progress on the Good Deed Garage #4.

Utilising the stock tank mount is great, I can set the height I want and it's fully rubber mounted and safe.

There's a lot of work going into this area, and a lot to consider, I have to make it easy for the painter, the electrician, the upholsterer and the mechanic, although most of the mechanicals are fairly straightforward, just the foot controls to set up.

There will be "trays" beneath the tank, seat and hump to accommodate all the wiring components, with holes drilled here and there to route the wires.

This should look really neat with the panels off, or on...

GDG update.

Mark Lloyd Riddell is hard at it this week, there’s a lot involved in the metalwork mods on #4, but this is where Mark gets to show his talent.

Before and after front guard trim. Note that the trimmed guard got a fresh rolled edge.

The guards will be painted in either the tank colour or frame colour - to be decided.

Mundane but important stuff update.

Next financial year Good Deed Garge will be a registered incorporated association with an appointed executive, an ABN, an audited bank account and a set of model rules.

The membership model will consist of:

- supporter member. $50 a year membership fee and that gets you five raffle tickets for each years fee. Helps to fund the charity builds. No voting rights.

- life member. Free lifetime membership for people or organisations that have made a significant contribution (over $1K) to GDG through the donation of funds, parts or skills. No free raffle tickets. Voting rights on election of executive after initial two year start up term.

I have a small list of life members, it does not include those who have donated motorcycles.

- executive member. A life member with an executive role such as President, Secretary or Treasurer.

I have the executive in place for the first two years to start the incorporated association. They will be announced once GDG inc is up and running later this year and we have systems in place to offer supporter membership.

Another future project going into storage in the Good Deed Dungeon.

A Suzuki GSX750es in rough but original condition. Won’t touch this one until GDG4 is completed and raffled off.

I will probably just do a simple restoration on this one as a clean example of a classic mid 80’s sports bike. Hopefully the engine can stay intact.

No raffle, no fundraiser - just fix and sell to put more funds into Good Deed Garage.

Did I say that was it for the week?

I did get curious about the condition of a spare CB72 tank I had, thinking it might be an alternative for the race bike given I need to move fuel tap mounts on the underside of the tank and I would like to avoid modifying the nice clean stock tank currently on the bike.

Ever seen a tank with at least one full tin of filler applied to it?

Honestly - it’s an inch thick in some places, for no apparent reason other than to make the tank heavier.

So - I think I will just gently modify the underside of the nice clean tank.

And that’s a wrap for the week.
