We would like to invite you to our 2026-2027 Federal Budget Panel Discussion and Networking Evening on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, from 6 pm – 8.30 pm at the Novotel Sydney Darling Square in Haymarket.

On Tuesday 12 May 2026, Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers will be delivering the nation’s 2026-2027 Budget. This is likely to be one of the most important budgets in decades not least because of the impact of current global events and the many economic challenges that they present including the continuing rise in inflation. Significant reforms to our tax system are also expected including changes to the capital gains tax rules and possibly, in relation to negative gearing.

Our expert panel will consist of Simon Alford (Business Advisory and Tax Partner at BYRONS), Devika Shivadekar (Economist at RSM Australia) and Raffi Tenenbaum (Tax Partner at William Buck). The panel moderator will be our Chamber president, Vincent Lim.

Do join us for this special event where you will be able to make a lot of new friends as well. We are expecting between 80-100 attendees.

Please scan the QR code to book your seat or visit www.trybooking.com/DLOCK. See you at the Novotel.

25 April is ANZAC Day, a special day on which we remember and honour the brave service men and women who have served our nation with courage and distinction.

Last month, to mark the 23rd anniversary of the unveiling of the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Monument in Sydney’s Chinatown, the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Association under the leadership of Lt. Col. Victor Tsang (Rtd), held a remembrance service to honour the commitment and contribution of Chinese Australians who have served in the Australian defence forces.

A heartfelt commemorative address was delivered by Mr Jason Li MP, Member for Strathfield and representing NSW Premier the Hon Chris Minns MP and Minister for Veterans, the Hon David Harris MP. Also present at this special service was our Member for Sydney, Mr Alex Greenwich MP.

Haymarket Chamber was represented at the service and the wreath laying ceremony by Chamber co-founder, Mr George Wing Kee, himself a proud member of the Australian Intelligence Corps from 1955 to 1960, and our Chamber President, Vincent Lim.

Haymarket will come alive as ASIA LIVE 2026 transforms the precinct into a vibrant, immersive celebration of Asian culture, creativity, food, and performances during the school holidays from 3-19 April. This event is brought to us by Bespok3, a member of our Haymarket Chamber of Commerce, and is proudly supported by the City of Sydney.

At the centre of the festival will be “The Sanctuary”, an illuminated wonderland where visitors can step into a visually stunning journey across Asia.

The official launch event will be on Saturday 4 April at 6 pm when the installation lights will be switched on. Opening night will also see “The Super Stage” take over Little Hay Street from 6–9 pm, presenting a lineup of traditional and cultural performances. More than a show, it is a celebration of community, culture, and artistic expression.

You can also wander through “Flowers of Asia”, a series of four ceremonial floral gates representing different regions of Asia - blending tradition, symbolism, and storytelling into a striking visual experience.

Beyond the installations and performances, ASIA LIVE 2026 will showcase Haymarket’s renowned dining and shopping scene, encouraging visitors to explore and engage with local businesses. Festivalgoers can take part in the spend & win campaign. For more info, visit .au and www.asialive.au
