CUC Hay is celebrating the end of our first Semester with a snapshot!

Since opening to students in January, we have welcomed 12 students into our Centre, representing 5 different institutions and 7 areas of study.

Here's some of our stats...

👪33% of our students have been first in family to study a higher education course.
🎓 Education and 🌾Agriculture, Environmental and Rural Sciences are our top studied courses.
⏰58% of students are studying Part-Time, with 75% studying Undergraduate courses and 18% studying postgraduate too!

But here's what some of our students are saying too...

📣"CUC gives me support, motivation and accountability while studying online"
📣"I'm most excited about having a dedicated study space when living so far away from town".

Thank you to our amazing students to being the first to jump right into our Centre!

If you're interested in finding out how CUC Hay can support you on your study journey drop into our Centre, located within the Hay CLC on the Corner of Cadell and Pine Streets or contact our Centre Manager, Jess on 0491 940 235.

Meet one of our CUC Hay Students, Jorja 👋

Jorja is a new bright face to the Hay community in her first year studying a Bachelor of Educational Studies with Swinburne Online University while working as a Governess on a local property.

"CUC gives me support, motivation and accountability while studying online. It’s also a great change from staring at the same four walls and gives me another space where I can focus and be productive." Jorja says.

Registering with our Centre is completely FREE, with our Centre open to students Monday - Friday 7AM to Midnight!

What does our Country Universities Centre mean to you?

Our Centre Manager, Jess Armstrong knows personally the challenges and opportunities that come with studying Higher Education by distance learning.
Since 2020 she has studied her Bachelors of Environmental and Agricultural Sciences with Charles Sturt University Part-Time while working across Australia before returning to Hay last year.

"I acknowledge I'm biased because I get to work at the CUC, but I'm also a student who spends my non-working hours studying. Our Centre is an incredibly versatile space... I don't get distracted by dishes or laundry or Netflix."

CUC offers students studying vocational or tertiary education with access to our Centre, Monday to Friday 7am - Midnight.
With FREE access to high-speed internet, printing and photocopying, and modern workstations.
You bring your course, laptop and determination - let us handle the rest!

This week CUC Hay had the amazing opportunity to host 61 students from the University of Sydney for a Young Farmer Forum with Riverina Local Land Services.

Featuring local farmer Emma McCrabb from North Bundy Station, Christine Plummer from Western Local Land Services and our Centre Manager, Jess Armstrong, these all-stars shared their journeys through agriculture including how their higher education pathways have opened doors to research, professional development and lifelong networks.

Thank you to the University of Sydney for squeezing us into your packed South-Western NSW bus tour and Sally Ware at Riverina LLS for planning with us 💛

It's been a big week for us over here at CUC Hay!

We are so proud to celebrate the official opening of our Country Universities Centre here in Hay. This space has been developed to support local students to access higher education without having to leave our community.

We are the first ever Regional University Study Hub to be co-located with a TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre and we could not be more grateful to have had the Honourable Minister Steve Whan, MP for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education here to mark this amazing achievement.

Our Centre represents opportunity, connection and a stronger future for regional Australia.

We would like to thank Uncle Ray Woods for welcoming us onto Country during our ceremony, Jacqui Hargreaves for our amazing catering and Bidgee Blooms for our beautiful flowers 💐

This event was proudly supported by the Australian Government's Regional Universities Study Hubs Program.
