These images of George St, Windsor, were taken from the Fitzgerald St intersection, looking towards McQuade Park and the station. They were taken almost 87 years apart.

The 'then' image is courtesy of the Museum of History NSW, and is titled "Government Printing Office 1 - 32546 - George St, Windsor, looking towards Glebe St end from post office [From NSW Government Printer series: Main Roads: Main Road 184]".

The date on the image is 4 October, 1938.

Note: Glebe St is now known as Tebbutt St.

THE AUSTRALIAN HOTEL, MCGRATHS HILL Part 2

The original Australian Hotel building on Pitt Town Road, McGraths Hill, dates back to the early 1890s. Although the upper verandah has been closed in, it is lovely to see the historic building still exists.

On the left of the hotel you can see the old butcher shop which was demolished when the hotel was extended.

The hotel was operated by six generations of the Maguire family until it was sold in 2022.

THE AUSTRALIAN HOTEL, MCGRATHS HILL Part 1

The Australian Hotel in McGraths Hill opened in the early 1890s, facing Pitt Town Road.

Adjoining the hotel was a butcher shop then later a general store. These were demolished in the 1930s when the hotel was extended to the corner of Windsor Road.

The hotel was operated by six generations of the Maguire family until it was sold in 2022.

The 'Then' image is courtesy of the Maguire Family and is undated. The 'Now' image was taken in November 2023.
