Each year Bayside Bushwalking Club offers Leadership Training through Bushwalking Victoria to its members to encourage more leaders in the club. This year about 20 members stepped up to the plate to become leaders. Each leader has a mentor to assist them along the way.

On Saturday Sybil lead her first walk at Kurth Kiln Regional Park. A great day was had by all.

The latest 2026 Ausplay data confirms bushwalking/hiking is continuing to thrive as one of Victoria’s most popular physical activities.

According to the Victorian statistics:

- 937,035 Victorians participated in bushwalking/hiking, up 10% from last year
- Bushwalking/hiking recorded a 16.1% participation rate
- Participation is now larger than many traditional sports including tennis, basketball and Australian football.

A fabulous walk on Saturday 20th June along the often underestimated Peninsula coast from Sorrento Ocean Beach to Bridgewater Bay and return. 11 BBC members enjoyed the strong wind and wild seas with the interesting rock formations. Although rain was expected we were in luck staying dry and with the return path in sunshine.
