Winter has well and truly arrived but that does not bother members of Bayside Bushwalking Club. Our fabulous leaders have put up several day walks, an overnight bushwalk and other activities. Several members of BBC enjoyed a fabulous base camp at Point Nepean last week. They made the most of the fabulous Autumn weather. Five days of walking including beach walks, bush walks and exploring the historical fort. Staying in the permanent tents with great facilities makes it a great place for a base camp.

Forest Fire Management Victoria have advised that parks and forests will be closed to the public in the Wimmera, North Central, Northern Country and South West districts tomorrow (Friday 9 January 2026) due to the forecast Catastrophic Fire Danger Day.

Wimmera includes the Northern Grampians including Halls Gap, Mt Arapiles, St Arnaud, Horsham across to the SA border.
South West includes the Southern Grampians, Mt Cole/Buangor parks, Hamilton and the south coast from Apollo Bay to the SA border.
North Central includes Marysville, Castlemaine, Seymour and Marysville, including Lake Eildon.
Northern Country includes Bendigo, Echuca, Shepparton and along a section of the Murray River.
