NETBALL RECAP

Under 9s game "The girls had a great game this week. We had some lovely intercepts, passes, and defending. With some girls playing some brand-new positions, everyone played a great game, and I can't wait to see then improve.

A fantastic win for our U11 girls! The team played brilliantly together, showing great teamwork, strong passing, and excellent communication. Everyone worked hard and supported each other throughout the game. Well done, girls!

U17 had a really close one this week going down by one! They pulled Virginia’s 3 goal margin back but couldn’t quite get over the line. Really impressed by everyone’s efforts in the wet conditions!

A3’s The wind was not a friend to the goalies. Very strong and gusty. It took a little while to get their eye in. Although, Virginia were able to adjust quicker and capitalise on their opportunities. The defence was extremely strong. Hamley played catch up. Everyone played well. They only went down by 4 goals. Well done girls, keep pushing the limits.

The A1 girls started strongly against Virginia and were in a tight contest for the first half getting a few ahead at several points through the half. However, Virginia kept coming back and by half time we trailed by 1 goal. After instructions to increase full court pressure in the second half the girls really stood up and continued to build pressure throughout the third quarter to lead by 4 and then powered home to come away eventual victors 46-36. It was great to see combinations that have been building start to solidify and the team come off full of positive energy and support for one another again this week. Was definitely great to take home the points as we now look to build on our round 1 results and see the results of the training and off court work the team are putting in each week.

Round 7 Football Recap

We welcomed Virginia and, while it was still Autumn, it felt like winter was rolling in with some early morning rain and a refreshing (some would say bloody cold) breeze throughout the day.

U14s
A great display of team footy for the whole game. The U14s worked hard for each other from the opening bounce with plenty of great passages of play. While they didn't come away with the result, coach Leon praised the game as probably their best performance of the season based on effort and teamwork across the board.

U17s
The U17s fell agonisingly short of their first win for the season. It was a close contest throughout the game, with the lads working well together - coach Andy happy with the side really gelling as one unit and playing four quarters of footy. In a seasawing last quarter, the lads were up by several points before allowing their opposition a few too many shots on goal which ultimately saw them go down by five points.

Reserves
Finally a win on the board for the Reserves! Coming off one of their worst performances of the year, the heat was put on the group that a win was the only acceptable result. The boys had a patchy first half, doing enough to take a four goal lead into the main break. The third quarter was a return to the standard of footy we've been expecting, piling on seven goals to one on the back of solid defense and efficient ball movement and conversion inside 50. The foot came off in the last but the result was beyond doubt, with the break coming at a good time to reset and get the season back on track.

A Grade
Also coming off the back of a poor performance, and facing a opposition with a 5-1 record, Coach Brett challenged the A Grade to respond with a more consistent effort across four quarters needed. The first half was goal for goal with neither team able to get much of an advantage in greasy conditions and the Rams taking a one goal lead into the main break. Similar to the Reserves, the A Grade came out seriously switched on in the third quarter. With goals at a premium our Bombers locked down defensively, not allowing a solitary point, while adding three goals of our own through clean ball movement and overlap run and carry. A few missed shots on goal was the only downside, keeping what could have been a bigger lead to just 16 points although this quarter would prove to be the difference. The fourth quarter returned to a shootout as each team put on fours goals a piece. In a positive sign similar to a couple of other wins this year, the Bombers were able to respond to every challenge and take the scalp of one of the ladder leaders which will no doubt be a boost heading into the week off.

We return in a couple of weeks when we head over to Long Plains for our return match with United. Enjoy the long weekend and see you there in your red and black to support our Bombers ⚫🔴

Round 7 Results

What a wet and cold day it was, with the rain finally easing later in the afternoon.

It was a day of close contests across the board for our netballers. A huge congratulations to our U11 superstars who continued their strong season with another win. The U17s fought hard but fell just one goal short, while A3 were right in the contest all day before going down by four.

The football was just as competitive, with the U17s battling hard in a close match. Our senior grades got the job done though, with both the B Grade and A Grade bringing home important wins for the Bombers.

Off the field, Saturday night's Quiz Night was a fantastic success. There were plenty of laughs, a dose of competitiveness on display, and most importantly, a great night enjoyed by everyone who attended. Thank you to all who came along and helped make it such a fun club event.

Thanks to everyone who braved the conditions and represented the club with pride. 🔴⚫️💣

NETBALL RECAP - Round 6

U9’s recap this week, " the girls pushed through so hard this week. With a couple of players out we were able to have some players from the other team fill in which helped us get on the court. So proud of the progress and effort they put in."

Huge effort from the U11 girls today coming away with a dominant and well deserved 47–11 win. Amazing intercepts in defence, sharp passing through the court, and accurate shooting helped secure a great team performance. Everyone worked hard from the first whistle to the last — such a strong game all round! Couldn’t be prouder of the girls

The U13s faced a tough and challenging game this week, but the girls showed incredible determination from the first whistle to the last. Every player gave their all on court, fighting hard for every ball and supporting each other through every quarter. Their effort, teamwork and never-give-up attitude were outstanding, and they should all be proud of the way they competed right until the finish.

The A5s played a hard contested game this week, with both sides battling strongly across all four quarters. The defensive pressure was outstanding, with strong hands-over pressure, great intercepts and relentless effort keeping the game competitive throughout. The team worked tirelessly for each other and showed plenty of determination and resilience right to the final whistle.

The A3s defence worked extremely hard and were very strong, turning over balls and getting rebounds. The offence worked hard but weren’t able to convert. Continue to work hard and the results will come. Keep going girls, your positivity and resilience on court is amazing.

A1’s played a consistent 4 quarters with a different defensive line in the first half to try and counteract the loss of Jasmine Gower in GA who unfortunately suffered a season ending ACL rupture against Mallala. The girls stayed in touch and evened the score toward the end of the second quarter before trailing again by 4 at half time. The injection of Mahli Muldoon from U17s into GA in the second half allowed the girls to compete in their preferred positions in the second half and we got very close in the dying minutes of the game to bringing the game back to even but unfortunately didn’t capitalise on the gained ball we received. Mahli was named as best on court, and a special mention also needs to go to another youngster in Madeline Hams who played a very strong game in GK for the time she was on court. Again disappointing result but the girls fought hard and remained positive throughout the game and we feel as a playing group the combinations are building and solidifying as we prepare to enter the second half of the season.
