Shakti NSW Shakti aims to empower women, young people & children to become agents of social change, speaking out against culturally-sanctioned oppression & abuse.

Shakti is a social transformation organisation led by and for women of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origins. We are dedicated to delivering prevention and intervention in critical areas like domestic violence to immigrant women and children facing culturally-sanctioned oppressive practices and abuse that leaves them disempowered and dependent. Our culturally-specialist family violence interve

ntion and prevention services prioritises safety of marginalised women and children in extremely high-risk circumstances such as under-aged/forced marriage, dowry-related violence, female ge***al mutilation and honour-based violence. In doing so, we challenge the intergenerational bonds of cultural and social oppression – that subjugates and violates human rights – and thereby promote social change.
