🌿 Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park are back! 🌿

On Saturday the 30th of May, volunteers gathered to celebrate the return of the group, with new coordinator Patrick Brabant helping guide the next chapter of conservation efforts along the northern banks of Tallebudgera Creek.

The group is restoring important habitat in David Fleay Conservation Park, just beyond the perimeter of the wildlife park, helping protect native wildlife and the natural and cultural values that make this special place so significant.

We're excited to see this passionate community back in action and look forward to supporting their work for years to come.

This Saturday! Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park Relaunch!

David Fleay Conservation Park is home to an array of threatened flora and fauna, but smothering w**ds are putting it all at risk. This Saturday, a dedicated group of volunteers is relaunching their efforts to restore it, and they're opening the doors to the community.

The group is led by Patrick, who was recognised during National Volunteer Week by the State Environment Minister for his outstanding work leading the regeneration of David Fleay Conservation Park through community volunteering. His dedication to this special patch of bushland is what keeps the work going!

The morning will kick off with welcomes and introductions before getting stuck into some supervised w**d removal, followed by a light morning tea. If you'd like to contribute your baking skills, a plate to share is always welcome! No experience needed - just a willingness to get your hands dirty. Koala spotting skills are a bonus.

It was great to join the state Environment Minister Andrew Powell MP, Member for Burleigh Hermann Vorster MP, Queensland National Parks rangers, fellow volunteers, and Friends of Parks Queensland for National Volunteer Week.

This meeting underscored the impact of volunteer conservation efforts in our local national parks, particularly surrounding effective w**d management. Through the coordination of volunteer groups, we are transforming areas infested with invasive w**ds back into natural refuges for wildlife.

It was a great honour to be recognised alongside Gary Scott from Friends of Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park for our work in leading the regeneration of our local conservation parks through our volunteer groups.

A big shout-out to Hermann Vorster MP for his consistent advocacy for our local state-protected areas, and for helping to accelerate their regeneration through a $630,000 commitment.

What we do would not be possible without the support of all of our incredible volunteers who are achieving real conservation outcomes in our local national parks.

Welcome to Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park

For over a year, we have been on the ground, protecting and restoring David Fleay and Tallebudgera Creek (North) Conservation Parks through the targeted removal of invasive w**ds. This work is restoring vital habitat across 24.3 hectares of conservation park home to a huge variety of species, including Koalas, Richmond Birdwing Butterflies, Swamp Wallabies, Echidnas and 155+ species of birds.

Our work here is creating a lasting legacy, and we would love you to be part of it.
