๐จ Have you received a suspicious email lately? You're not alone.
With big news about health insurance changes and Centrelink payments doing the rounds, scammers are taking advantage โ sending fake emails pretending to be your bank, Medicare, or the government.
These emails look VERY real. But there are simple things you can look for to protect yourself.
Here are 3 quick warning signs of a fake email:
๐ด The sender's email address looks odd โ e.g. it says "CommBank" but the address is something like [email protected]
๐ด It uses urgent language โ "Your account has been suspended!" or "Action required immediately!"
๐ด It asks you to click a link to verify your details, update your password, or claim a refund
๐ The golden rule: When in doubt, don't click. Go directly to the website by typing it into your browser instead.
