Gold Coast Lost and Found Pets is managed by a small team of local volunteers, dedicated to helping reunite pets in the Gold Coast Qld and nearby areas. Our page was founded in 2011. We give our time freely and we have no fees or charges. We all understand how stressful it is when a pet is missing and are here to help post your missing pet on our page, and also give search information and places t

o check in case your pet has been handed in by a finder. Please message our page with your pet‘s details. We appreciate and thank the many people in the community who also help with sharing and tips to help find a missing pet or owner of a found pet. When your Pet first goes missing, please do the following.

* Please MESSAGE / INBOX your LOST/FOUND pet notice including photo and detailed information. Please include if your pet is wearing a collar (describe the collar), microchipped (or not), desexed or intact and any distinguishing personality features or markings, and also a contact no. for our post.

* WHEN SEARCHING LOST AND FOUND NOTICES --> A recent lost dog, a "Jack Russell/Fox Terrier cross" was matched to a found notice for a "Chihuahua" (luckily there was a photo). Follow up notices that are *similar* to your dog, and also to go to the pound IN PERSON in case breed is recorded differently there. Some notices may describe a found dog only by "small, medium, large", rather than a breed.

* Make sure their Registration and Microchip information is up to date - All dogs on the Gold Coast must be registered ! (cats no longer need to be registered) It's VERY important to ensure the microchip details are up2date. If no microchip, I would strongly advise that you put this at the top of your TO DO list when the pet is returned to you.

Please Visit www.car.com.au or please call 03 9706 3187 for more details.

-- If you have come from N.S.W. your dog may be on this data base:
www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au - As this register is limited to NSW, it is recommended that you contact one of the national microchip record companies to have your pet's details recorded

Any vet can scan your pet to get the chip no. and company, or if you have the chip no. you can check which company it is recorded with using http://www.petaddress.com.au/ (except NSW company)

* Notify ALL Vets in your surrounding area, call the Gold Coast Pound (Phone: 07 5581 7600 or after hours 1800 637 000), RSPCA, Animal Welfare League of Queensland and the GCCC Waste Management (Phone: 07 5667 5976)

* If you have FOUND a dog or cat and owner not found, please take to a nearby vet or even pound if no vets are near you.

* Try to VISIT IN PERSON with a recent photograph of your missing pet all the local vets and The Pound if possible. A busy vet clinic may not realise they have your cat whereas The Pound has been known to make mistakes in their description of found pets.

* If you have a missing cat, check high and low and everywhere in between. Cats can get themselves into some seriously high and/or tight spots. Bang on car bonnets in case the cat is napping in the warm engine (naturally seek permission first if possible).

* Notify the Animal Emergency Service (104 Eastlake Street, Carrara) Ph: 07 5559 1599, ... These Vets operate 6:00pm - 8:00am Monday - Thursday; 24 hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday including all Public Holidays

Animal Emergency Centre (Unit 4, 492 Scottsdale Drive, Varsity Lakes) Ph: 07 5593 4544 - these vets are open 24 hours

SASH Varsity Lakes 20 Scottsdale Drive, Varsity Lakes, enter via The Home Hub Complex Christine Ave
ph 07 5584 7300

* Place large Posters up around the area, with a photo and description of your pet and contact details. Please ensure any photos you use in your posters are clear/high quality photos so as people can easily identify your lost pet (the same applies for posting photos online).

* Ask neighbours to check in and around their yard (and on their roof as some cats have be known to become 'stuck' on a roof)

* Walk around your neighbourhood, looking and asking if anyone has seen your pet (it's advised that you be holding up your lost pet flyer so people will know you are not a salesperson thus will be more receptive)

* Check out online classified sites such as Gumtree ( http://goldcoast.gumtree.com.au ) Try to find other online classified sites where your pet possibly could be listed in the found or for sale section instead of lost and founds.

* If your pet is NOT microchipped, please check all the local shelters and rescues as your pet (if it has passed a temperament test) may possibly be out on foster until a new home can be found for it. This is a vitally important reason to make sure you microchip your pets because shelters/rescues will only re-home if there is no microchip and/or the details are out-of-date (especially phone numbers are disconnected).

* Contact 4CRB 89.3FM (the only local radio station that still does lost/found pet notices) http://www.4crb.com | Phone: 07 5520 8888 Email: [email protected] --

★ REMEMBER ★ NEVER give up looking for your pet, they want you to find them ! :-)

All Domestic Animals should be taken to the nearest Vet or the Gold Coast Pound (which is located in Coombabah next door to the Animal Welfare League)

If you have found a injured animal, PLEASE seek medical help, DO NOT JUST LEAVE IT !!! Please contact 1300 ANIMAL ( 1300 264 625 ) if a dog or cat otherwise Wildcare 07 5527 2444 for wildlife only
