π€πβ€οΈ NAIDOC Week 2026 β 50 Years of Deadly πππ€π€
This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while reflecting on this year's theme: "50 Years of Deadly."
At the same time, the Queensland SES is proudly celebrating 50 years of service to Queensland communities, with volunteers helping Queenslanders through storms, floods, searches, rescues and emergencies since 1975.
The SES South Eastern Region is privileged to serve communities across lands that have been cared for by First Nations peoples for tens of thousands of years, including:
π Ipswich β Yuggera, Jagera and Ugarapul Country
π Logan β Yuggera, Jagera, Yugarabul and Yugambeh Country
π Gold Coast β Kombumerri Country, part of the Yugambeh language region
π Somerset β Yuggera Country
π Scenic Rim β Yugambeh, Ugarapul and Mununjali Country
As we honour both milestones, we acknowledge the enduring connection of First Nations peoples to Country and thank the generations of volunteers who have stood beside our communities when they needed help most.
Together, we celebrate the past, serve in the present and look toward a stronger future.
