Kapa haka is a beautiful way to connect through waiata (song) and haka (performance) — sharing our stories, whakapapa, identity, and strength as a people. It’s not just about performing, it’s about belonging, learning, and growing together ❤️

Wow… what an incredible weekend it has been for our roopu! 🙌
Our Wānanga was filled with learning, laughter, connection and beautiful moments shared together as one whānau. 🫶

We want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank everyone who helped bring this kaupapa to life…

✨ To our Committee – thank you for all the behind-the-scenes mahi. The planning, organising and effort did not go unnoticed. We appreciate you all so much!

🍽 Okeroa & our beautiful ladies – thank you for the yummy kai all weekend! Keeping everyone well fed and happy, we are so grateful for you all.

📚 Our tutors – Heleena, Kowhai & Curtis – thank you for leading our Wānanga and sharing your knowledge of Māori tikanga. Your guidance and passion is truly inspiring.

🎯 Rangi – thank you for bringing the fun with your amazing games! The energy and laughter you created was everything!

🔥 Bernie & Mike – thank you for cooking up all the delicious meats, keeping our bellies full and spirits high!

Most importantly, thank you to our whānau who showed up, got involved, and made this weekend so special. This is what it’s all about – unity, culture, and connection. ❤️💛💚

Our Wānanga is officially underway this weekend down at Wallaby Rugby League Club Gladstone and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our roopu together for a powerful couple of days! ❤️💛💚

A huge thank you to Wallaby’s RLFC for allowing us to use your space – we truly appreciate your support in helping us bring this kaupapa to life. 🙏

Check out some of our amazing crew from this morning’s set up – putting in the mahi behind the scenes to make it all happen! 💪✨

We can’t wait to see everyone come together, learn, connect, and enjoy the weekend.
