The GUN is DONE!
Seventeen months ago, Deploy took on a mission, we embarked on this journey with the RSL and Young Veterans, and brought in local business’s to join the cause. We engaged Five groups of COGSY youth(30), who have had the opportunity to work hands-on in restoring this incredible piece of military history. Through this project, they’ve not only learned valuable skills but also gained experience in teamwork, perseverance, and dedication. Many of them have since moved forward in their own journeys—securing jobs in industry, starting traineeships and apprenticeships, buying their first cars, and laying the foundations for their futures.
To all those business’s who were a part if this project. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of each and every one of you. Thank you for believing in our local youth and giving them this opportunity. Your efforts have left a lasting impact, not just on this project but on the lives of those involved.
As we move into the final stage—blasting and giving her a fresh coat of color—Ed and the GRC are finalizing plans for her placement in Anzac Park, where she will stand as a tribute to those who gave so much for us.
A special mention must go to Mark, whose tireless research, after-hours commitment, and countless weekends have brought this project to life. And to Adam, the wing - man, whose dedication and guidance have been instrumental. I know you both shy away from recognition, but I’ve seen firsthand the incredible effort you’ve put in, and you both truly deserve appreciation. (Bourbons are on the RSL😜)
To everyone involved—thank you. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of this community project, and I am incredibly grateful for the role each of you has played. We now officially hand her back into the care of the RSL, ready for her final posting.
